Construction Grants Auditor


Pay Rate: $125.00 – $145.00 per hour, based on experience.

Location: Remote, with on-site travel required.


We are seeking a Construction Grants Auditor to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our monitoring initiatives. This position is contingent upon future grant-monitoring projects focused on construction. In this position, you will provide expertise in reviewing change orders, invoices, cost-loaded schedules, procurement documents, or assist with on-site visits to ensure contract or grant compliance and effectively bridge complex construction projects with grant requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on large-scale construction monitoring efforts support while supporting positive client relationships.
  • Collaborate with government clients and their engineers, architects, and construction management partners to support effective monitoring.
  • Translate complex construction technical matters into clear, understandable guidance for the monitoring team.
  • Review change orders, expense reimbursements, procurement documentation, and invoices for compliance with laws, regulations, and established guidelines.
  • Assist in conducting program risk assessments, including interviewing key program staff.
  • Participate in preparing or reviewing clear, concise client reports summarizing methodologies, findings, recommendations, and site-visit observations.
  • Complete other project-related duties as requested.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Internal Audit, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction monitoring or auditing, specifically for large-scale infrastructure or public works.
  • 5+ years of experience in client management, serving as a technical advisor to government agencies or large organizations.
  • Certified Construction Auditor (CCA) or Construction Control Professional (CCP) strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of federal grant regulations (Uniform Guidance/2 CFR 200) and construction project lifecycles.
  • Proven ability to translate complex analysis into clear, actionable written recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines while maintaining third-party oversight standards.
