Description
General Summary: Directs assigned crews and performs on-site installation and repair of Alkar product lines on domestic and foreign based projects. Effectively communicates installation status to Installation Coordinator. Acts as liaison with customer and Alkar Project Management Team.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Installs Alkar product lines on domestic and foreign based projects utilizing installation checklists to identify sequence of operations. Alerts Management of unusual project obstacles or issues.
- Directs activities of outside contracted field crews on projects as assigned.
- Orders parts through Field Coordinators and the shop area as field shortages occur.
- Completes renovation work on competitor’s equipment as assigned.
- May commission equipment at job site.
- Fills out tool kits in-house when between project assignments.
- Completes Project Completion Reports noting both successes and areas for improvement on subsequent projects.
- Conducts weekly site safety meetings with field crews.
- Oversees complex welding procedures on installations as needed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by supervision.
Areas Supervised:
- Provides direction to outside contracted field crews. Enforces safety regulations.
Scope Data (budget accountability, operating revenues, organizational unit responsibility, number of employees supervised, other pertinent numeric data):
- Receives little instruction on daily work and general instructions on specialized assignments.
- Installation project budgets range from $10,000 to $2 million.
Description of physical working environment:
- Extended standing, climbing, ladders and stairs, catwalk, equipment.
- May be required to work around ammonia lines in production and cooler areas.
- Regular domestic and international travel required.
- Exposed to welding gas and grinding dust during installations.
- Works in varied temperatures (freezers, coolers and cooking areas).
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High school education.
- Minimum of two years experience in food processing installations and in-depth knowledge of Alkar product lines.
- Strong interpersonal and customer relations as well as verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic working knowledge of welding procedures.
