The Sales Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting the launch and ongoing success of our new Business Development unit within the promotional products industry. This leader is responsible for building the operational infrastructure, tools, and processes that enable our Business Development team to identify, pursue, and close new client opportunities. The role blends strategic planning, data analysis, workflow design, forecasting, project management, and cross-functional coordination to ensure our sales engine runs efficiently and consistently. This is a highly collaborative position that partners closely with Business Development Leaders, Account Executives, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Vendor Relations to remove friction from the sales cycle and support scalable growth.


Responsibilities:


Sales Process & Infrastructure

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve sales processes for the new business development function, including lead intake, qualification, quoting, pricing, and handoff to account teams.
  • Establish operational playbooks, workflow documentation, and standardized procedures to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Evaluate and refine the opportunity lifecycle (from prospecting through closed w-on) to maximize conversion rates.

Systems Management & Enablement

  • Own CRM administration (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Commonsku) for the Business Development team, including reporting, workflow automation, dashboards, and data integrity.
  • Implement tools that support prospecting, outreach, quoting, and client engagement specific to the promotional products industry.
  • Train new hires on systems and processes to accelerate ramp up- time.

Pipeline Management & Forecasting

  • Build and manage dashboards that give leadership real time- visibility into pipeline health, funnel metrics, win/loss trends, and performance against revenue targets.
  • Partner with Business Development Leadership to drive weekly pipeline reviews and ensure data accuracy.
  • Analyze historical sales patterns and seasonal buying behavior in the promotional products space to forecast demand and revenue.

Pricing, Quoting & Vendor Coordination

  • Develop pricing guidelines, margin targets, and quote templates tailored to new business- pursuits.
  • Partner with Vendor Relations to secure pricing, samples, and production timelines for new opportunities.
  • Ensure quotes are accurate, competitive, and aligned with company profitability expectations.

Operational Support for New Business Unit

  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks that impede speed to- quote or speed- to- -close.
  • Build an intake process for custom projects, RFPs, and client concepting requests.
  • Support marketing campaigns and outreach efforts by providing data insights and segmentation.

Data Analysis & Performance Reporting

  • Analyze sales performance, conversion rates, deal cycle times, and sourcing trends to drive decision making-.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for senior leadership.
  • Recommend strategic improvements to increase revenue, enhance client experience, and optimize team productivity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance to support budgeting, incentive plans, and revenue tracking.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Creative, and Program/Project Management to ensure seamless execution of new client onboarding.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, or Business Operations.
  • Experience in promotional products, marketing services, branded merchandise, or similar industry with product sourcing and vendor coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of CRM platforms and reporting/dashboard tools.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to turn data into insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Strong process design and project management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence without authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a newly formed or rapidly scaling sales organization.
  • Background working with distributor side- platforms/tools (e.g., ASI, SAGE, PPAI systems).
  • Understanding margin structure, cost of- -goods, and pricing strategy for branded merchandise.
  • Familiarity with outreach automation, desk operations, or quoting platforms.

Compensation: The estimated salary range for this position is between $85,000 - $110,000 annually. Please note that this pay range serves as a general guideline and reflects a broad spectrum of labor markets across the US. While it is uncommon for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the range, compensation decisions are influenced by various factors.
