Responsibilites:
- Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative nursing care to oral surgery patients
- Monitor and assess vital signs and patient condition during procedures under local, IV sedation, or general anesthesia
- Prepare and assist in surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile and safe environment
- Administer medications and IV fluids as directed by the surgeon or anesthesiologist
- Educate patients and caregivers on post-operative care instructions and recovery protocols
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all nursing activities, medications administered, and patient observations
- Ensure adherence to infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA compliance at all times
- Support emergency response efforts by recognizing and managing medical emergencies confidently and quickly
- Perform pre-surgical patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories, allergies, and medication lists
- Assist in maintaining surgical inventory and ordering medical supplies as needed
- Collaborate with oral surgeons, surgical assistants, and front office staff to ensure seamless patient care
- Follow up with patients post-operatively to monitor recovery and provide support
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of nursing protocols and safety procedures
- Participate in continuing education and staff training sessions to stay current on best practices and certifications
- Provide a calming and supportive presence for patients who may be anxious about surgery
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted RN license in the state of their work location
- BLS and ACLS certification (required)
- Prior experience in oral surgery, ambulatory surgery, or surgical nursing preferred
- Proficient in IV placement, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
