JOB PURPOSE
The Financial Empowerment Coordinator is a key contributor to the success of Lacasa’s Financial Empowerment Center, ensuring that clients experience a smooth and supportive journey from initial contact through program participation. This position is responsible for coordinating client intake, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting service delivery across a range of financial empowerment programs—including housing counseling, financial coaching, financial empowerment education, auto lending, and Individual Development Accounts (IDAs). Acting as a bridge between clients and certified counselors, the Financial Empowerment Coordinator helps eliminate barriers, improve access, and uphold the high-quality standards of HUD-compliant services.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Service Delivery
- Manage the intake process for Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) programs, including distributing, receiving, and reviewing inquiries and applications.
- Verify client eligibility before scheduling appointments with Housing Counselors and Financial Coaches.
- Refer ineligible cases to other departments or agencies better suited to meet the client's needs.
- Support the administration and delivery of additional financial empowerment programs as assigned.
- Assist with document translation and provide interpretation during client appointments to ensure effective communication.
- Help coordinate and facilitate group education workshops under the Master It Series (topics include homeownership, money management, credit building, and debt management) and collaborate with the team on updates and revisions.
Record Keeping
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of all client activity in the designated Client Management Systems (CMS), in accordance with HUD, funders, and internal guidelines.
- Enter all client activity data promptly and accurately into the appropriate Client Management Systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work effectively with departments such as Finance, Real Estate Development, and Community Building & Engagement to support grant-funded initiatives.
Other Expectations
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities as requested by supervisor.
- Attend Lacasa’s annual meeting and monthly all-staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Associate degree in education, business, finance or related field preferred. A combination of work experience that has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position may be considered.
Experience
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data with integrity.
- Excellent clerical and computer skills: proficient or advanced skills in Microsoft Suite and Zoom.
- Experience and record of success with data management.
- Records management principles and practices, and research methods and techniques.
- Basic budget and math skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Full-time, 40 hours/week (M–F) with scheduled evening or weekend hours for Master It classes or other assigned events.
- Work is office-based.
- May require travel between Goshen and Elkhart, with occasional travel for training; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required (mileage reimbursement provided).
- Duties include periods of sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting or moving items up to 10 pounds.
- May occasionally set up and break down tables, chairs, and display materials for community activities and classes.
- Frequent computer use required.
- Tolerates moderate office noise typical of a workspace with multiple offices and staff.
- Work is fast-paced and involves prioritizing multiple competing deadlines and needs while maintaining a high level of accuracy and empathy.
