Cashier/Front of House Associate

Job Summary:

Cashiers support the daily operations of the Thrift Store by providing excellent customer service, essential cash register operations, and sales floor support. This position ensures all transactions are handled with accuracy, efficiency, and with care, while upholding a positive and Christ-centered customer service experience for all customers. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service in all interactions and transactions with customers.
  • Operate the cash register system with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Accountable for cash controls and accuracy of cash register receipts.
  • Collect cash and be able to count back change to the customer.
  • Process customer sales, returns and voiding transactions in accordance with store policies. 
  • Restock merchandise and assist with shelving and organization of sales floor items.
  • Assist with pricing and tagging merchandise, especially during slower periods.
  • Answer telephones, take messages, and use the paging system as needed. 
  • Assist the enforcement of store policies (i.e. bag policy).
  • Perform opening and closing tasks such as counting tills, cleaning and straightening the store and work areas, stocking supplies and ensuring cash is properly secured.
  • Attend department, organization and other meetings or training as required. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Benefits/Work Schedule:

  • Compensation: $17.13 hour
  • Schedule: Part-time; flexible hours based on store needs. Must be available to work at least one weekend day.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in a retail or donation environment.
  • Previous experience with cash handling and operating cash registers preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service. 
  • Ability to make decisions and problem-solve when issues arise.
  • Must be able to multi-task and stay organized.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods as well as move throughout the store to assist with stocking or light cleaning.
  • Team player with a spirit of cooperation and willingness to work with others towards goals as set by the Retail Lead/Supervisor and General Manager.
