Summary 

The Accounting Assistant plays a critical role in supporting Minnesota Women’s Care's financial operations. Working directly under the Accounting Director, this position provides comprehensive support across all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reconciliation, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with healthcare accounting standards, and supporting the overall efficiency of the accounting department. This is a full-time, on-site position, offering the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment where attention to detail and accuracy are paramount. 


Accounting Assistant Responsibilities 

* Enter and process weekly accounts payable, including verifying invoices, ensuring proper coding and authorization, and preparing payments to vendors and service providers. 

*Process accounts receivable, including posting patient payments, insurance reimbursements, and managing outstanding balances. Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts as needed. 

*Assist with month-end closing procedures and account reconciliation, including   reviewing general ledger entries, verifying transaction accuracy, and   preparing supporting documentation for financial reports. 

* Maintain organized filing systems for financial documents, both physical and   electronic, ensuring easy retrieval and compliance with record retention   policies. Support   overall department organization and workflow efficiency. 

* Reconcile   financial records and bank statements, tracking all incoming and outgoing   funds to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies. Investigate and   resolve variances in a timely manner. 

 * Assist   with creating, editing, and formatting financial documents, reports, and   presentations for management review. Prepare spreadsheets, summaries, and   analyses as requested. 

* Assist the Director of Accounting with various administrative tasks and special   projects, including data entry, report preparation, audit support, and other   duties as assigned to ensure smooth department operations. 

Requirements

  

Essential Functions and Qualifications 

* Punctuality and   adherence to the schedule are a must. Reliable attendance is essential to   ensure the timely processing of financial transactions and support for the accounting team.  
* An associate’s degree in accounting is preferred.  
* At least one year of experience in an accounting role with an emphasis on healthcare. Familiarity   with medical billing, insurance reimbursements, and healthcare-specific   accounting software, and strong QuickBooks experience is highly preferred.  
* Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time, utilizing accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial management systems with proficiency.  
* Ability to thrive in a   fast-paced work environment while managing multiple priorities, meeting   deadlines, and maintaining accuracy under pressure.  
* Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with   financial regulations and internal policies.   
*Strong written and   verbal communication skills to interact professionally with the accounting   team, healthcare staff, vendors, and patients. Ability to explain financial   information clearly and respond to inquiries in a courteous and timely manner.  
* Work is performed primarily in a medical office setting using standard office and medical equipment. While the role is primarily administrative, there may be occasional exposure to clinical areas with a risk of contact with blood and   bodily fluids. Adherence to all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines is required.

Salary Description
$26.00 -$29.00/hr
