Salary Information: Annual Minimum Salary-$48,000-Annual Maximum Salary-$72,000

Hiring Rate:  $23.08-$29.81

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Pro-rated based on hours/week.

Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.


The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five-state region.


PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south-central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. General Summary:

Serves as the subject librarian for developing library services that ensure equitable student academic preparedness and professional readiness in the areas of information literacy and scholarly communications. Designs and delivers evidence-based instruction, co-curricular activities, and personalized learning support that strengthens students’ research fluency, critical thinking, and scholarly engagement skills.  Deepens collaborative campus partnerships and outreach initiatives, aligning library resources with institutional goals and increasing the visibility of the library’s positive impact on the broader academic community. 


Essential Job Functions:

• Designs, delivers, and assesses instruction and resources that strengthen students’ research skills, scholarly communication practices, and the ethical use of information and data, including emerging technologies, across the curricula 

• Partners with University units focused on learning, wellness, and academic support to align library initiatives with institutional goals for student achievement, retention, and professional readiness 

• Serves as liaison to assigned programs, integrating library resources into course design, web content, and subject guides, ensuring collections meet curricular, clinical, and research needs 

• Develops and implements outreach initiatives, including orientation programs and skills training, that increase visibility and use of library services, collections, and digital tools among students, faculty, and staff 

• Utilizes assessment findings to recommend and shape responsive, data-informed programs that enhance student learning and engagement 

• Chairs the Student Library Ambassador team and represents the library on additional University committees and initiatives

• Performs other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need 

Requirements

Education:

• Required: Master’s degree accredited by the American Library Association


Experience:

• Required: 1-3 years

Skill in effective communication (both written and oral); skill in independent decision making; skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature; skill in problem solving; skill in public speaking; knowledge of computer and network operating systems; knowledge of customer service principles and practices; knowledge of project management principles, processes, and techniques; and ability to apply effective and accurate data entry and typing skills.
