GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Online Support Specialist for Undergraduate Programs and Church Partnerships is to provide administrative support for online undergraduate programs (OUG) and church partnership programs within the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and the School of Theology and Ministry (STM). This position serves the Academic Office by collaborating with the Deans of STM and SAS, Department Directors, and online faculty to: a.) provide high-quality online courses designed to help students succeed and have an excellent program experience, b.) provide administrative support to directors and faculty, and perform other duties to serve online programs. The role will collaborate with different areas such as the registrar’s office, academic office, marketing, admissions, and others to serve online students well. Responsibilities include supporting online professors in both STM and SAS programs, church partnerships, and certificate courses and providing coverage for other support specialists to ensure effective operations and timely delivery of classes. Reports to the Dean of Online Instruction and works with the Registrar and Faculty Directors on a regular basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reports to the Dean of Online Instruction.
- Supports all aspects of OUG and church partnership programs.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of certificate courses
- Provides retention and persistence support to STM OUG and graduate students by tracking progress on LMS and providing needed support.
- Coaches and supports OUG students towards completion of their study programs
- Ensures OUG students are well-served across departments
- Troubleshoots and resolves LMS technical issues
- Assists with onboarding new online faculty (includes LMS training)
- Collaborates with OUG professors in updating and revising course content
- Updates course outlines, assignment instructions & grading information, and other course materials for OUG courses
- Reviews OUG textbooks with faculty and communicates textbook selections to Academics.
- Creates, copies, and prepares OUG course shells in a timely manner
- Applies instructional design principles and best practices when preparing OUG courses
- Implements OUG LMS standardization to promote consistency across all online courses.
- Develops faculty training materials
- Conducts quality assurance checks for OUG, certificate, and church partnership courses to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Communicates teaching schedules and expectations to all OUG faculty
- Provides coverage for other support specialists to ensure effective operations and timely delivery of classes.
- Completes other projects assigned by the Dean of Online Instruction.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A vibrant Christian faith and worldview consistent with the LPU’s Statement of faith.
- Minimum B.A. degree and experience, MA preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, pastors, faculty, staff, & leaders (solid interpersonal, public address, written/verbal communication skills are a must)
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and administrative skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects/deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Proficient working computer knowledge: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Typing 50+
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills (working with formulas and graphs)
- Experience delivering training or instructional support to others.
- Some Learning Management System (LMS) experience.
- Excellent English skills and writing ability.
NOTE: Though not required, this position is optionally eligible for appointment as a Foursquare minister under certain conditions. If appointed as a minister, the employee will be available to provide pastoral care and prayer. In addition, s/he may be called upon to perform sacerdotal duties upon request of the University.
