Job Description


We have an immediate opening for a Jr Vinyl Cutting Engineer to support our in-house vinyl cutting operation. This person will receive training in the proper preparation of audio masters for vinyl manufacturing and in operating our lacquer-cutting lathe. The Jr Vinyl Cutting Engineer position is an on-site role. Successful candidates are enthusiastic about audio technology/ recording, tech-savvy, quick learners, fast problem solvers, and able to successfully perform their duties with a minimum of supervision on the third shift.


Responsibilities/Tasks

  • Assess and prepare the artist’s audio masters for the lacquer cutting process.  
  • Achieve daily/ weekly lacquer cutting quotas. 
  • Communicate internally with Customer Care in a clear and effective manner, concerning potential issues with client masters. 
  • Assess final product samples to identify potential issues arising from the manufacturing process.
  • Monitor stocks of essential supplies necessary for the lacquer-cutting operation and report to management when re-ordering is required. 
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements


Pre-requisites

  • 3 years of audio recording, mixing, or mastering experience.  
  • Experience with professional Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs). 
  • Experience with a wide range of processing plug-ins, including EQ, compression, limiting, etc.
  • Ability to identify the various formats and qualities of audio files used in a professional setting.
  • Familiarity with turntables and vinyl records is a plus. 
  • Experience with Sequoia/ Samplitude is a plus. 

Special Skills Required

  • Must have good communication, language, and verbal skills.
  • Must be capable of performing basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance of the mechanical workings of the lacquer-cutting equipment.
  • Must exhibit discipline with regard to daily responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Basic math skills are required to perform simple calculations.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to perform work standing for an 8-hour shift.
  • Will be required to use microscopes and/or magnifying glasses to inspect the lacquer surface for imperfections, as well as other small parts of the lathe equipment for replacement or routine maintenance. 
  • Must be able to lift approx 30 lb boxes routinely.
