Title:  Director of Business Development & Impact

Reports To: Senior Director II, Practice Greenhealth 

Location: 100% remote, candidates must reside and be eligible to work within the U.S. 

FLSA Status:  Exempt

FTE Status:  1FTE, the position reports 100% of time to Practice Greenhealth

Supervises:  Associate Director, Growth 

Salary Range:  $125,000-$135,000 annually

Requirements

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

  • Strategy & Vision: Create and drive sales strategies for Practice Greenhealth network expansion, in alignment with organizational strategic objectives, and considering both financial and mission-impact goals.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise the Associate Director (AD) of Growth and the Growth & Partner Experience Manager to ensure sound execution of strategic sales priorities. 
  • Revenue Growth: Drive revenue growth by consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets, while identifying new market opportunities to scale the organization’s impact.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the Growth team’s operational functions, including prospecting and forecasting, maintaining client relationship management tools, developing client account strategies, maintaining sales collateral, and conducting relevant data analysis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Strategic Leadership & Oversight

  • Translate organizational strategic priorities into actionable sales plans and annual growth targets.
  • Design and refine retention and acquisition strategies, in collaboration with the Solutions team.
  • Establish and maintain high-level relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners to stay abreast of market trends.
  • Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations for the Growth team, including professional development and output of all team members.

Membership Management

  • Manage membership lifecycle across the end-to-end member journey by proactively managing the recruitment, retention and expansion workstreams and ensure strong customer service delivery and relationship management.
  • Oversee  “association” membership management tasks, including periodic surveys, renewal notification cycles, and invoice generation, in collaboration with other organizational stakeholders (i.e. Finance, Solutions, Partner Experience, Communications/Marketing)
  • Oversee the Growth team’s budget and maintain accurate forecasts for all sales activities.

Sales & Revenue Management

  • Utilize market research to adjust sales strategies to meet changing market conditions.
  • Contribute to the development of annual targets for all sales products. 
  • Review and analyze sales performance against targets to determine effectiveness, taking corrective action as needed to guarantee targets are met within budget.
  • Lead strategy for "high-stakes" or complex negotiations, which may be executed by the Associate Director or other team members; provide strategic support to the AD in closing sales.
  • Lead the revenue modeling and forecasting process in partnership with the Senior Director II, ensuring that all budget projections are informed by updated reporting and risk reviews.

Operational Excellence & Reporting

  • Oversee the Growth team’s operational functions, including prospecting and forecasting, maintaining client relationship management tools, developing client account strategies, maintaining sales collateral, and conducting relevant data analysis.
  • Ensure the integrity of growth data by overseeing the team’s use of Pipedrive, the organizational database, and Google Drive, which includes guiding and managing a robust dashboard of key performance indicators (KPIs)/objectives and key results (OKRs) to reflect the health and impact of the network.
  • Prepare regular periodic reports for executive leadership, including performance to target review,  highlighting revenue projections, risk assessment, and market opportunities.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will have the following professional and personal qualities, skills, and characteristics: 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Demonstrated success in consultative sales, business development, and/or growth strategy within network/membership organizations or associations, with at least 7 years of professional experience. 
  • Experience in "high-stakes" consultative sales, specifically in negotiating complex service agreements and managing a high-volume sales pipeline; excellent customer service skills and compelling communications skills.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning skills, including leading strategy assessment conversations, using data to frame decision-making, and considering risks and trade-offs when making strategy recommendations.
  • Strong financial acumen, including the ability to manage departmental budgets, conduct market research, and provide accurate sales forecasting.
  • Highly effective cross-functional collaborator who can work seamlessly with Solutions, communications, finance, and programmatic teams to align organizational goals.
  • Proficient in using CRM tools like Pipedrive or Salesforce  

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • Expertise in the healthcare sector is considered a strong advantage, as is a sophisticated understanding of sustainability to effectively communicate the business case for sustainability initiatives to C-suite executives, including an understanding of hospital financial decision-making.
  • Experience directly managing and mentoring a team to meet performance targets and professional development goals. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Education: BA or BS in Business, Sales, Management, Marketing, or related field. Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education. 
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Business, Sales, Management, Marketing, or related field 
  • Preferred Education: BA or BS in Business, Sales, Management, Marketing, or related field, related to health or sustainability; Consultative sales training 
  • Preferred Experience: 7 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Demonstrated success in consultative sales, business development, and/or growth strategy within the health care or sustainability sectors.
