Tarantino Properties is seeking a Corporate Controller in Houston, Texas to lead our accounting department.
The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions including billing, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and month-end close process. The ideal candidate will have experience in a high transactional and fast-paced environment. The Controller will work closely with firm leadership in a full-time, in-office capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the CFO and other executives to provide strategic insights based on financial data and analysis
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions
- Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making and long-term planning
- Oversee the budget process
- Coordinate and review financial statements to be completed in a timely manner
- Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes
- Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
- Interface with clients as needed
- Stay current with accounting standards, regulations, and best practices
Qualification and Skills:
- Bachelor Degree Required - Business, Accounting, Finance, or related major
- CPA preferred but not required
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience
- High integrity, professionalism, positive attitude, and desire to be a team player
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated success in leading accounting transformations, system implementations, or organizational change
- Strong communication skills
- Must reside in Houston, Texas
