Loch Harbour Group, Inc. is seeking a motivated Software Engineer I to support application and automation development efforts in a mission-focused environment. This entry-level role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional seeking hands-on experience supporting software development, system enhancements, user training, and application sustainment activities.
The Software Engineer I will work under the direction of senior engineers to support the development, testing, documentation, and maintenance of software applications and automation tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide application and software development support for systems and automation tools under the direction of senior engineers
- Assist in delivering over-the-shoulder and virtual training to government personnel on existing applications and platforms
- Respond to ad hoc user questions and basic issues related to automations developed by the team
- Review source code to understand functionality and assist in identifying improvement opportunities
- Implement assigned code updates, enhancements, and fixes following established development standards
- Support testing and validation of application changes prior to deployment
- Assist in developing and maintaining training desk guides, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures
- Ensure documentation is clear, accurate, and accessible to both junior and senior technical users
- Follow secure development practices and applicable coding standards
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar)
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts
- Experience using version control tools (e.g., Git)
- Exposure to Agile development methodologies
Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as:
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Information Systems
- Mathematics or related discipline
Experience Requirements
- No prior professional experience required
- Internship, academic projects, or lab experience highly valued
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret Security Clearance (required at time of hire)
- Ability to work onsite in San Diego, CA
