OVERVIEW:

The Manager, Professional Education Content & Digital Learning is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for developing, integrating, and maintaining high-quality professional education content by working closely with internal cross-functional stakeholders and external third-party vendors.

This role serves as the central content integrator and developer for Professional Education content – partnering with R&D, Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Marketing, Sales, Field Education, Customer Development, and NPI teams to gather inputs and translate them into compliant, scalable, and impactful learning assets across live, digital, and on-demand formats.

This individual also owns the submission, review, and approval process for education content in accordance with company policies and quality system requirements.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Content Intake

  • Partner with R&D to translate device technology, design inputs, and development updates into education-ready content.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Affairs and Medical Affairs to ensure clinical accuracy, evidence-based messaging, and appropriate use of data.
  • Work closely with Professional Education leadership and Field Education teams to align content with training strategy and field needs.
  • Partner with Customer Development and Practice Strategy teams to support customer onboarding, adoption, and long-term success.
  • Collaborate with NPI and Launch teams to support launch readiness, training timelines, and coordinated field execution.
  • Interface with Sales and Marketing to ensure alignment with commercial strategy and customer engagement models.
  • Coordinate with Regulatory and Quality partners to ensure compliant development and use of education materials.

Education Content Development & Execution

  • Develop and maintain professional education content across multiple formats, including:
  • Field training decks (new hire, recertification, continuing education)
  • Customer-facing education materials
  • Digital learning modules and micro-learning assets
  • Training videos, animations, and blended learning tools
  • Translate complex clinical, technical, and operational inputs into clear, consistent, and engaging learning content.
  • Ensure content consistency across functions and audiences.

Digital Learning, LMS & Vendor Management

  • Support deployment and maintenance of education content within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to design role-based learning pathways and blended learning experiences.
  • Manage third-party vendors and agencies supporting content development, digital learning, and video production, including:
  • Defining scope and requirements
  • Reviewing drafts and iterations
  • Ensuring alignment with clinical, educational, brand, and quality standards
  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact for vendor-produced education assets.

Submission, Review & Approval Governance

  • Support the submission, review, and approval process for professional education content in accordance with company policies and quality system requirements.
  • Coordinate internal reviews across Professional Education, Clinical, Medical, Regulatory, Legal, and Marketing as required.
  • Maintain documentation, version control, and approval records for education materials.
  • Ensure timely updates to content based on product changes, new data, or policy updates.

Continuous Improvement & Content Governance

  • Maintain education content libraries and lifecycle management processes.
  • Incorporate feedback from field teams, customers, and cross-functional partners to improve content quality and effectiveness.
  • Support analytics and insights related to content usage, engagement, and learning effectiveness.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 5 – 8 years of experience in professional education, training, enablement, and content development & design roles.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in medical device, healthcare technology, or regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working with external vendors or agencies to develop educational or digital content.
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Digital learning and video-based education
  • Submission and approval processes in regulated environments

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role will not have direct reports.
  • This role will be expected to manage outside vendors or consultants. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Prior experience collaborating with R&D, Clinical Affairs, and Medical Affairs.
  • Ophthalmology or procedural medical device experience a plus.
  • Training to be completed per the training plan for this position as maintained in the document control system
  • The training requirements on TRN-10007 Insider Trading Policy, TRN-10008 Global Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy and TRN-10009 Code of Business Conducts and Ethics must be diligently completed within 30 days from the hiring date and on an annual basis

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Strong PowerPoint and instructional content development skills.
  • Experience building digital training assets and curriculums using learning management software.
