Nutrition Program Administrator Job Description

Reports to: Chief Programs Officer

FLSA: full-time salaried (exempt) position


Summary:

The nutrition program administrator leads a comprehensive countywide nutrition program serving Delaware County older adults. Working under the direct supervision of the Chief Programs Officer, the Nutrition Program Administrator provides leadership and management in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of food and nutrition services. The Nutrition Program Administrator oversees the following:

· Home Delivered Meals

· Cafe Sites

· Farmer’s Market Voucher Program

· Just for Paws Pet Program


Essential Job Functions:

Management and Oversight 

· Leads strategic planning, operational performance and continuous improvement efforts for all nutrition-related programs and services. 

· Provides direct supervision to the Nutrition Administrative Manager and the Food Service Manager

· Ensures adequate staffing and volunteer coverage including thorough orientation and training of all new departmental staff and volunteers

· Assumes primary responsibility for development and oversight of the departmental budgets, including cost control and forecasting. 

· Responsible for driving goal development, implementation and monitoring of measurable results. 

Compliance and Evaluation 

· Responsible for evaluating, interpreting, revising, and ensuring the ongoing compliance with departmental policies and procedures, as well as those of funding sources and regulatory agencies

· Ensure continued compliance with the Older Americans Act requirements, state and local health department regulations and applicable food safety standards

· Works closely with Quality Improvement department in the development and implementation of departmental quality assurance standards 

· Provides final administrative oversight of menu approval by working closely with the Food Service Manager in securing approval of menus offering choice, and meet the relevant funding requirements

Collaboration and Operational Support

· Works with the Advancement department to identify, apply, and compile reports for funding opportunities and grant awards 

· Works collaboratively with and maintains professional communications with agency leadership, clients, and those doing business with the nutrition program, including, but not limited to, funders and potential funders, grantees, contractors, vendors, and the public; and communicates and coordinates matters with and between management and staff

· Represents the nutrition department on committees, task forces, and groups which may be formed for the support and improvement of the nutrition program and food access in Delaware County

· Maintains a thorough understanding of all the programs and services provided and supported by SourcePoint, both within the organization and through our many community partners, and an understanding of and commitment to the pursuit of excellence in customer service

Required Skills and Abilities:

· Demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of software programs including Microsoft 365

· Possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate effective oral, written, and electronic communications methods 

· Ability to achieve multiple critical outcomes and deadlines which meet or exceed established expectations, with minimal oversight

· Ability to be creative and to deal with ambiguity and change on a routine basis

· Ability to promote a positive work culture within the organization; and project a positive image of the organization in the community and to routinely interact with the general public

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Nutrition, Allied Health Services, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

· Minimum of five years supervisory, program management and employee or volunteer training experience

· Experience working in Meals on Wheels, or similar program, with knowledge of applicable funding requirements preferred

· Minimum of two years’ experience working with volunteers; preference given to experience in supervising volunteers

Essential Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

· Ability to lift 30 lbs. on a regular basis without assistance 

· Ability to drive home delivered meal routes throughout the county on a regular basis with access to a reliable automobile, and must maintain automobile insurance in an amount established by SourcePoint

· Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain and stairs

  • Ability to work with      individuals in a variety of living environments, which may include      occasional exposure to animals, second-hand smoke, strong odors, or other      environmental conditions while completing home-delivered meal routes

Other:

In any organization, particularly a small organization, it is necessary to assume new responsibilities necessary to ensure a smooth continuity of operations with the organization. It is expected that other organizational needs will emerge, which will be assigned to the Nutrition Program Administrator.
