The Medical Scribe role is a hybrid position combining high-level medical documentation with clinical support responsibilities. This role is critical to provider efficiency, accurate coding, and quality patient care delivery. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Scribe & Documentation Responsibilities

  • Document patient visits in real time during physician encounters
  • Accurately record medical history, physical exams, diagnoses, and care plans
  • Document patient education, risks/benefits discussions, and follow-up instructions
  • Ensure accurate capture of ICD-10 diagnoses and documentation to support billing compliance
  • Review and correct documentation errors prior to physician sign-off
  • Record interpretation of labs, imaging, and diagnostic results
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, CMS, AMA, and legal documentation standards

Clinical Support Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient assessment data collection
  • Manage and prioritize telephone encounters
  • Review hospital discharge records and outside clinical documents
  • Support care coordination and follow-up planning
  • Provide delegated clinical care within scope of licensure
  • Collaborate closely with providers, nurses, and administrative staff
Requirements

Required:

  • Active Georgia LPN or RN license 
  • Current BLS certification
  • Active ACLS certification for RNs
  • Strong medical terminology knowledge
  • Exceptional documentation accuracy and typing proficiency
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment

 

Preferred:

  • Cardiology experience
  • EMR proficiency
  • Experience with clinical documentation improvement

Salary Description
$22.50 - $27.00 per hour
