Position Summary
Freeman’s, one of the nation’s leading fine art auction houses, is seeking a full-time Photographer. This role is part of a team responsible for photographing all items sold at auction, including decorative arts, furniture, fine art, antiquities, jewelry, other valuable objects. Photographers create images that are used for printed catalogues, online catalogues, and all other promotional materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Style, light and photograph items for upcoming auctions.
- Prepare images to send for retouching.
- Ensure all images meet the company’s standard for quality and consistency.
- Work closely with the Director of Photography to prioritize tasks.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in photography, or 2-3 years of professional photography experience.
- Experience photographing products on white in a studio setting using mono-lights.
- Experience conceptualizing and styling creative photoshoots in studio.
- Comfortable operating a professional digital camera with zoom lens.
- Proficiency with Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop: working knowledge of layers, masks, color correction tools, actions, batch processing.
- Ability to maintain high quality while producing high volume of images under tight deadlines.
- Capability to work efficiently and independently, showing innovation and initiative.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to safely lift and handle heavy, delicate objects.
- Interest in art and art history.
