 Position Overview


Aurora Central Catholic is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Science Teacher to instruct Honors Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and AP Biology at the high school level. The ideal candidate fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific literacy while preparing students for college-level coursework and careers in STEM fields.



Requirements

 Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Honors Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and AP Biology aligned with state standards and College Board AP guidelines.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans incorporating inquiry-based learning, laboratory investigations, and real-world applications.
  • Prepare AP Biology students for the AP Exam through rigorous instruction and data-driven practice.
  • Design and implement laboratory experiences that emphasize safety, scientific methodology, and analytical skills.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Maintain accurate grade records and communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the Science Department on curriculum alignment and vertical integration.
  • Participate in professional development and school community activities.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid state teaching certification in secondary science (Biology endorsement required).
  • Experience teaching AP Biology preferred.
  • Strong background in laboratory instruction and safety procedures.
  • Ability to integrate technology into instruction.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with inquiry-based and project-based learning.
  • Familiarity with AP Biology curriculum frameworks and exam structure.
  • Experience supporting diverse learners, including honors and advanced placement students.
  • Willingness to sponsor science-related and/or other extracurricular activities (e.g., Science Olympiad, HOSA, Science National Honor Society).

Salary Description
$41,000 to $75,000/yr
