GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

Team members are among the most important ambassadors of Costa Vida. Your willingness to step in where needed ensures a smooth working environment. The Team Member function will consist of the following roles: Cashier, Lobby, Line Cook, Expeditor, Salad, Drive Through, To Go, and other non-management roles as assigned for example; Runner, Flat Top, Char Grill, Dishwasher, Tortilla, Cold Prep.


TEAM MEMBER FRONT OF HOUSE 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Guest Service Excellence: Greet and seat guests promptly, present menus, answer questions, and ensure a welcoming and attentive dining experience from arrival to departure.
  • Order Accuracy and Efficiency: Take food and beverage orders accurately, input them into the POS system, and communicate clearly with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and correct service. 
  • Dining Area Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of tables, service stations, and dining areas in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Payment Processing: Prepare and deliver checks, process cash and card transactions accurately, and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
  • Team Collaboration and Problem Resolution: Work cooperatively with team members to ensure smooth operations, address guest concerns professionally, and escalate issues to management when necessary.

TEAM MEMBER BACK OF HOUSE

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Kitchen Sanitation and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized work station, follow food safety and sanitation regulations, and comply with health department standards.
  • Inventory and Stock Management: Monitor ingredient levels, rotate stock using FIFO (first in, first out) practices, and notify supervisors of low inventory or supply needs.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Safely operate kitchen equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Team Coordination and Efficiency: Communicate effectively with front of house and kitchen staff to ensure timely order fulfillment and smooth kitchen operations during service.

WORKING REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS

Education/Certification:

Food Handler permit.


Experience Required:

Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a bulk or high-volume kitchen environment.

Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and safety standards.

Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.

Ability to weigh and measure food accurately.

Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask in a busy kitchen.

Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude


Skills/Abilities:

Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs).

Finger dexterity:

Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.

Talking:

Especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing:

Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Average Visual Abilities:

Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.

Physical Strength:

Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs).


WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment:

Capable of working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.


MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQURIEMTNS OF THIS POSITION

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization.

Able to interpret various instructions.

Mathematics Ability:

Ability to perform basic math skills.

Language Ability:

Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias.

Ability to prepare memos, and reports using proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. 

Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis; correct pronunciation (or sign equivalent); and variation in word order using present, perfect, and future tenses.

Salary Description
$15.15 to $17.00 per hour
