Description

The Parking Garage Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency of parking garages and related facilities. This position involves performing routine maintenance tasks, conducting inspections, and addressing repair needs to uphold the quality and functionality of the parking infrastructure. The Parking Garage Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in providing a positive experience for patrons and ensuring the long-term sustainability of parking facilities.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:


Routine Maintenance:

•  Perform regular inspections of parking garage structures, equipment, and systems to identify 

maintenance needs, such as lighting fixtures, elevators, gates, and security cameras.

•  Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, filter replacement, and equipment 

servicing, to ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of parking facility assets.

•  Clean and maintain parking garage surfaces, including floors, walls, ceilings, and drainage 

systems, to enhance appearance and prevent deterioration.

Repair and Troubleshooting:

•  Respond promptly to repair requests and service calls, addressing issues such as malfunctioning 

equipment, electrical failures, plumbing leaks, and structural damage.

•  Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to diagnose problems and implement 

effective solutions, coordinating with external contractors or vendors as needed.

•  Perform minor repairs and adjustments to parking equipment, such as ticket dispensers, payment 

kiosks, access gates, and elevator systems.

Safety and Compliance:

•  Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards for parking garage operations, 

including fire safety, ADA accessibility, and building codes.

•  Conduct regular inspections of safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, emergency lights, 

and signage, to verify proper functionality and readiness for emergencies.

•  Implement corrective measures to address safety hazards and maintain a secure environment for 

patrons and employees.

Documentation and Reporting:

•  Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection 

reports,

equipment manuals, and inventory of supplies and spare parts.

• Prepare and submit maintenance reports detailing completed tasks, ongoing issues, and 

recommendations for improvements to parking garage management.

Customer Service:

•   Interact professionally with patrons and visitors, providing assistance and information as 

needed regarding parking policies, directions, and facility amenities.

•  Respond to customer inquiries or complaints related to maintenance issues, addressing concerns 

promptly and courteously.

Qualifications:

•  High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in maintenance, building 

trades, or facilities management is advantageous.

•  Previous experience in building maintenance, construction, or related field is 

preferred.

•  Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems commonly found in parking 

garages.

•  Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.

•  Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and climbing.

•  Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach to service 

delivery.

Working Conditions:

•  The Parking Garage Maintenance Technician works primarily indoors within parking garage 

facilities, with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when performing exterior 

maintenance

tasks.

•  The position may involve working at heights and in confined spaces, requiring adherence to 

safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.

•  Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required to accommodate maintenance schedules and 

respond to emergency repair needs.
