The Payroll Analyst is responsible for processing all aspects of multi-state payroll and prevailing wage compliance for Takkion Ops Management. This role manages weekly payroll for approximately 2,000 employees using Paylocity and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations across multiple platforms.
The position supports payroll tax setup, audits, wage reporting, and reconciliation of quarterly and annual filings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong, in-depth understanding of U.S. payroll regulations, certified payroll reporting, and prevailing wage requirements.
This role is critical to maintaining the financial integrity of the organization, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering accurate and reliable payroll support to employees nationwide.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Process and manage multi-state, weekly payroll using Paylocity, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure full compliance with weekly certified payroll reporting requirements for contracts governed by the Davis-Bacon Act, Prevailing Wage & Apprenticeship (PWA), and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) prevailing wage regulations.
- Edit weekly certified payroll submissions, update craft classifications, and oversee apprentice classifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Review, validate, and submit all weekly certified payroll reports; investigate, correct, and resubmit rejected filings as necessary.
- Collaborate directly with the Time & Labor team and Operations regarding prevailing wage projects, hours worked, missed punches, and reporting discrepancies.
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and prepare detailed payroll reports for the accounting department.
- Develop, maintain, and apply fringe schedules for prevailing wage payroll processing.
- Upload apprenticeship documentation and complete required data entry for prevailing wage projects within client portals, Department of Labor systems, and other online compliance platforms.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries, wage report requests, and support tax reporting and external auditing agency requests.
- Demonstrate advanced Excel proficiency, including the development and analysis of complex payroll and compliance spreadsheets.
- Support year-end payroll close processes, auditing activities, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support payroll operations and compliance initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant payroll experience required.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Direct experience with Certified Payroll, Davis-Bacon, and Prevailing Wage reporting required.
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Highly meticulous with exceptional data-entry accuracy.
- Ability to thrive in a high-volume, demanding environment.
- Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the construction industry strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Paylocity or similar payroll systems preferred.
