A mid-size Chicago law firm is seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Litigation Support Specialist to join our team. Position Overview:

The Litigation Support Specialist supports attorneys and paralegals by overseeing court docket activity, processing and reviewing filings, maintaining accurate case records, and assisting with trial preparation. This role requires a strong understanding of the litigation lifecycle, advanced organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.


The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across the litigation team to ensure procedural accuracy and compliance with court rules and deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Track, analyze, and process court filings from electronic docket systems across multiple jurisdictions.

2. Open new cases and maintain accurate, detailed case information within the firm’s case management system.

3. Review court filings to determine required action and ensure proper internal routing and follow-up.

4. Process court orders and update case records accordingly.

5. Conduct court database research and assist attorneys and paralegals with information extraction.

6. Maintain highly organized and audit-ready litigation case files and documentation.

7. Audit docket entries and case data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm procedures.

8. Support trial preparation, including preparation of exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.

9. Provide additional litigation and administrative support as needed to ensure efficient case progression.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience required.

• Experience: 4+ years of relevant experience (law firm or professional services preferred); docket experience is a plus.

• Strong working knowledge of court dockets, court procedures, and electronic filing systems.

• Demonstrated experience supporting high-volume or complex litigation matters.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict and time-sensitive deadlines.

• Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.

• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in high-volume litigation environments (e.g., mass tort, asbestos, or multi-jurisdictional matters)

• Experience working in the following counties preferred: Cook County, St. Clair County, Madison County, McLean County, St. Louis City, and St. Louis County

• Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge

• Experience auditing or improving docketing processes

Compensation and Benefits Overview: $55,000-$70,000 (DOE)

The pay offered for this role may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Eligible employees may also receive bonus opportunities and other forms of compensation, contributing to a comprehensive total rewards package. Benefits offerings may differ based on location.
