Middle School English Teacher

Reports to: Middle School Division Head

Length of Contract: 180 Days

Summary: The Middle School Teacher reports to the campus division head and is responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social growth. The teacher will also enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.


Duties include:

  • Instruct students in citizenship and core Christian values.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials aligned to FWC curriculum.
  • Creates an effective environment for learning through attractive displays and bulletin boards
  • Uses a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
  • Engages students in critical thinking.
  • Guides students in principles for effective communication.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior necessary to achieve a productive learning environment.
  • Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, and keeps appropriate records.
  • Connects learning to faith standards and biblical throughlines
  • Communicates with parents on a timely basis through conferences, e-mail, and other means provided by FWC.
  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
  • Participates in divisional team meetings, faculty committees, and the sponsorship of student activities as needed.
  • Maintains professional competence by regularly participating in professional growth activities and teacher in-service.
  • Other duties as assigned by the campus division head


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
  • Student teaching or approved internship is essential.
  • Committed to living and teaching a life of service to Christ in accordance with the FWC Statement of Faith.
