The Development Coordinator is responsible for maintaining Openlands’ fundraising CRM and data systems, playing a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Development team’s operations, as a part of the broader External Affairs team. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Development, this non-exempt position maintains core database functions, supports grant tracking and donor prospecting, and provides project management and administrative support to keep the team on track.


This role requires a data-driven problem solver who is eager to embrace technology to improve workflows, create automations, collaborate across the organization, streamline processes, and help the Development team meet its goals. 


Essential Functions


Salesforce & Gift Administration


· Serve as primary administrator of Openlands’ fundraising CRM, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and efficiency, and lead gift administration throughout the organization’s transition from DonorPerfect to Salesforce. Process all donations (online, checks, events, donor-advised funds, stock gifts, etc.) in a timely and accurate manner.

· Generate and send donor acknowledgments promptly, ensuring all IRS-compliant language and stewardship standards are met.

· Reconcile donations regularly in partnership with Finance to ensure accuracy between Salesforce and financial records.

· Maintain clear documentation of gift entry procedures, coding standards, and data best practices.

· Generate reports and dashboards to track fundraising progress, campaign performance, and donor trends.


Individual Giving Strategy & Engagement


· Partner with the Assistant Director and Director of Development to support annual fund strategy, segmentation, and campaign tracking.

· Develop and maintain donor lists for appeals, stewardship efforts, and cultivation initiatives.

· Support moves management tracking and pipeline activity within Salesforce.

· Assist in creating automated donor journeys, pledge reminders, and targeted engagement workflows.

· Monitor acknowledgment timelines and ensure no donor goes unrecognized.


Finance & Operational Coordination


· Work in close collaboration with the Finance team to reconcile gifts, pledges, and event revenue.

· Track pledge payments and follow up internally to ensure accurate revenue forecasting.

· Maintain organized digital records of gift agreements, documentation, and donor communications.

· Support preparation of financial and fundraising reports for leadership and board review.


Campaign & Event Support


· Support annual appeals, major campaigns, and fundraising events by preparing mailing lists, donor recognition lists, and performance reports in collaboration with the Communications team.

· Ensure accurate gift attribution and follow-up after events, including pledge tracking and acknowledgment.

· Assist in maintaining clean and actionable data for corporate and individual donor engagement.


Innovation & Continuous Improvement


· Identify opportunities to improve Salesforce workflows, automations, and reporting tools.

· Partner with colleagues to streamline processes that improve donor experience and internal efficiency.

· Stay informed on nonprofit fundraising operations best practices and recommend improvements as appropriate.





Requirements


· Bachelor's degree required; 2-3 years of fundraising operations or development experience preferred. 

· Demonstrated experience working in Donor Perfect and Salesforce (required), including gift processing, reporting, and data management.

· Strong understanding of gift acknowledgment standards and nonprofit financial reconciliation processes.

· Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to timeliness.

· Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Clear written and verbal communication skills.

· Professional, collaborative, and eager to grow within fundraising operations and strategy.

· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues and support colleagues in technology adoption

· Familiarity with data integrations, API-based tools, or workflow automation platforms (preferred)

 · Comfortable learning new systems quickly and guiding others through change


Compensation


Salary range: $52,000–$55,000, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package including: Health, life, and disability insurance; 403(b) retirement plan with up to 5% employer contribution. Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
