The Human Resources Intern helps with various projects within the People Operations team, however, primarily oversees the management of UNICO's team member benefit and wellness programs. As the main point of contact for benefits, this role collaborates closely with the Director of People Operations to enhance programs, streamline processes, and resolve issues. This position leads efforts regarding benefits to team members, address inquiries, and troubleshoot challenges.
Responsibilities
Benefits Management
- Oversees the day-to-day administration of all team member benefit programs, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, Voluntary, STD, LTD, 401(k), COBRA, Flexible Spending Accounts, Paid Time Off, and Employee Assistance Program.
- Serves as a resource for team members regarding benefits-related inquiries, ensuring they understand their options and helping them navigate the enrollment process.
- Presents our benefit offerings to new hires monthly and guides them through the enrollment process.
- Ensures accurate and timely documentation and reporting of benefits data, including enrollments, changes, and terminations, in the company HRIS system.
- Manages relationships with benefits vendors (e.g., insurance carriers, retirement plan administrators) ensuring the efficient data delivery and resolving any issues or discrepancies.
- Develops and distributes benefit communication materials (e.g., benefits guides and plan summaries) to keep team members informed about benefit changes.
- Coordinates the annual Open Enrollment process for team members, ensuring clear communication, timely enrollment, and a smooth transition to new plans.
- Reconciles and pays all benefit bills, performs quarterly audits of all carrier websites, and maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs.
- Compiles annual census information regarding wages and other benefits data.
Wellness Program Coordination
- Works with the Director of People Operations to set and execute corporate wellness programming.
- Serves as the primary point of contact regarding Wellness programs, tracking, and incentives.
- Generates, maintains, and updates departmental wellness program status reports.
- Coordinates wellness events including annual screenings and wellness communications.
Culture Programming
- Assists with United Way campaign events and manages donation reporting.
- Partners with Marketing and Events on company meetings, team member appreciation activities, and community outreach.
- Manages Lincoln Corporate Games sign-ups, team assignments, and food drive.
- Cross trains in other People Operation areas as needed.
Professional Requirements
- Education: Current sophomores or juniors pursuing a degree in business or human resources preferred
- Experience:1 year of professional or customer service experience preferred
