Title: Employee Benefits Account Manager 

Compensation: $70,000 - $100,000 per year 

Please note that compensation may vary based on your state of residence. Salary referenced is for California state candidates. 

Schedule: Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (Occasional overtime and limited travel may be required.) 

Location: Hybrid, California 

Poms & Associates is seeking a knowledgeable and client-focused Employee Benefits Account Manager to service and support a book of new and existing employee benefits accounts. This role partners closely with the Producer and internal team to deliver exceptional day-to-day service, strengthen client relationships, support retention efforts, and maintain strong carrier partnerships. 

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of group benefits, compliance regulations, and benefits administration platforms, and thrives in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Manage and service an assigned book of business, including escalated service and billing issues. 
  • Maintain benefits administration portals (Employee Navigator, Rippling, Paylocity, etc.). 
  • Research carriers, products, and services for small and middle market groups. 
  • Assist clients with administrative setup and ongoing management of their benefits plans. 
  • Prepare, process, review, and monitor policies, renewals, reports, applications, policy changes, billings, and contracts. 
  • Collaborate with Producers, Account Managers, and Benefits Analysts on implementation and renewal processes. 
  • Provide guidance and support related to state and federal compliance requirements (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Healthcare Reform, Medicare). 
  • Develop employee communications for open enrollment and wellness initiatives. 
  • Maintain renewal reports, mailing lists, client data sheets, benefits booklets, and contribution sheets. 
  • Perform marketing for small group accounts. 
  • Conduct or assist with employee meetings (may include varying hours and locations). 
  • Build and maintain strong carrier relationships and stay current with industry updates and offerings. 

What You’ll Need to Succeed: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of related industry experience. 
  • Advanced knowledge of small and mid-size group benefits programs. 
  • Valid, unrestricted California Life & Disability License (with continuing education compliance). 
  • Strong working knowledge of compliance regulations including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Healthcare Reform, and Medicare. 
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines. 
  • Professional presence with the ability to interface confidently with executive-level clients. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-service driven environment. 
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
