The Commercial Loan Underwriter & Portfolio Manager, is responsible for the ongoing credit risk management, financial analysis, and performance monitoring of a commercial loan portfolio which includes Small Business Administration guaranteed loans, multi-family residential loans, participation loans, United States department of Agriculture loans and commercial real estate loans to current and potential credit union Members.
Business Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30AM – 5:30PM*

This position is based in Anaheim Hills CA with the opportunity to work on a hybrid-remote schedule which consists of 2 days in-office and 3 days working remote from home.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in commercial real estate or consumer lending, credit analysis, or commercial portfolio management, including experience analyzing commercial real estate and/or SBA related credits.
- 2+ years' experience in underwriting commercial or consumer loans.
- Formal credit training and/or experience is required, and most people entering this field have attended industry-sponsored training programs in credit analysis and commercial loan underwriting usually given by banking schools or seminars.
- Experience with on-line and spreadsheet data processing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Economics or related.
- Small Business Administration (SBA) Lending experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in all applicable MS Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
- Strong understanding of cash flow, leverage and liquidity, repayment sources, collateral and guarantor support, covenants, risks, and mitigants.
- Expertise in commercial lending policies, procedures, and systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and excellent listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to produce documents, spreadsheets, databases, etc. with Windows-based software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitors and manages credit risk within the commercial loan portfolio through ongoing financial analysis, covenant compliance review, risk assessment, and borrower performance evaluation.
- Prepares comprehensive annual and periodic credit reviews, including financial spreading, global cash flow analysis, trend evaluation, collateral analysis, and risk rating recommendations.
- Evaluates complex commercial loan transactions and portfolio credits by analyzing financial data, repayment capacity, guarantor support, and risk factors; provides informed credit feedback and recommendations to management and applicable loan committees.
- Reviews third-party underwriting analyses for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with Credit Union credit standards; collaborates with underwriting partners to obtain clarifications and resolve follow-up items in a timely manner.
- Conducts credit investigations and prepares well-supported credit memoranda, summaries, and risk assessments for presentation to the AVP, Commercial Lending and/or Commercial Loan Committee.
- Monitors portfolio performance, delinquency trends, and changes in borrower financial condition; proactively identifies emerging risks and escalates concerns as appropriate.
- Performs collateral analysis and valuation reviews by assessing market conditions, comparable sales, and property performance to evaluate adequacy of collateral support.
- Serves as liaison for commercial loan servicing matters, including payment monitoring, modifications, adjustments, and resolution of borrower issues; supports funding activities and reconveyance processes as needed.
- Maintains accurate and current financial documentation for commercial borrowers; communicates with Members regarding financial reporting requirements and follows up on past-due information or payments when necessary.
- Supports process improvement initiatives and business process management efforts within the Commercial Lending department; ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act requirements, and adheres to Credit Union policies and service standards.
- Complete understanding and active application the C.A.R.E. 4 Guide expectations and the Brand Communications Standards Accountability Philosophy.
- Must be able and available to work a “hybrid” schedule, per business operations requirement, as needed.

Pay Scale: Min. $80,105.69 / Mid. $103,226.76 / Max. $123,140.16* per year
