Description
St. Patrick Catholic School is seeking an experienced kindergarten teacher. The kindergarten teacher fosters the faith formation, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children by creating a safe, engaging, learning environment. Key responsibilities include designing lesson plans for early literacy and numeracy, conducting assessments, and maintaining consistent communication with parents to support student progress.
This role includes but is not limited to the following:
- Instruction: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans focusing on reading, math, science, and social studies using, games, music, and art. Develop and deliver lesson plans that align with diocesan curriculum standards in core subjects. Submit weekly lesson plans.
- Assessment: Monitor student developmental milestones and academic progress, providing individual support or intervention as needed.
- Classroom Management: Establish and enforce classroom rules, creating a nurturing and safe environment for young learners.
- Student Development: Support the faith formation of all students. Support students social, emotional, and cognitive growth, addressing diverse learning needs.
- Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with grade level team, vertical team, and data team. Attend vertical team meetings, and whole group staff meetings.
- Parent Communication: Maintain regular contact with parents to discuss child development, milestones, and concerns.
- Technology Integration: Utilize technology to enhance instruction and engage students in learning.
- Professional Learning: Participate in ongoing professional development related to faith, instruction, and assessment. Participate in annual teacher evaluation pre-conference, observation, and post-conference. Set professional learning goals.
- Supervision: Ensure safety during classroom activities, lunchtime, and recess.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education
- Professional Educator License State of Illinois
- Experience of 5+ years preferred
- Strong knowledge and practice of Catholicism
- Patience, creativity, strong communication, organization, and passion for child development.
- Knowledge of child development, curriculum, instructional best practices, and assessment.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and parents
