Trust Technology Solutions – Overland Park, Kansas - Fully Remote with the optional access to our regional office locations.
Position Overview
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key architect of our data ecosystem. We are looking for a high-ceiling technical lead to design and scale enterprise-grade data products within Microsoft Fabric. This role requires a sophisticated blend of modern cloud engineering and deep SQL Server fundamentals. You won't just move data; you will define the standards for data reliability, performance, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring our clients can rely on high-fidelity information for mission-critical decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in the established Fabric Architecture: Design and implement sophisticated end-to-end workloads within Microsoft Fabric. You will help determine the optimal use of the Lakehouse (Spark/Notebooks) versus the SQL Warehouse based on specific performance and scale requirements.
- Advanced SQL Development: You will develop complex stored procedures and functions while also performing deep-dive performance tuning and indexing strategies within SQL Server and Fabric environments.
- Automated Validation Frameworks: Maintain robust, automated data validation and quality frameworks. You will ensure that data integrity is "baked into" the pipelines, catching anomalies and schema drift before they impact downstream analytics.
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Data Analysts and business stakeholders to define and enforce Data Contracts. You will act as a bridge, translating high-level business objectives into durable technical architectures.
- Advanced Data Modeling: Implement modern architectural patterns, including Medallion, Data Vault 2.0, Data Mesh, and others, ensuring data is structured for both long-term scalability and ease of end-user consumption.
- DataOps: Drive operational excellence through CI/CD via Azure DevOps, Git-based version control, and automated monitoring/alerting systems using Logic Apps and other Azure services.
Required Skills
- Experience: 5–7+ years of proven experience in Data Engineering, with a strong emphasis on database design and cloud architecture.
- SQL Mastery: Advanced proficiency in T-SQL and SQL Server internals. You should be comfortable solving complex query performance issues and designing highly efficient relational models.
- Cloud Orchestration: Demonstrable experience building and managing complex pipelines using Fabric Data Factory or Azure Data Factory.
- Programming & Big Data: Proficiency in Python (PySpark) for large-scale data transformation and Spark-based processing within a Lakehouse environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions, define requirements with non-technical partners, and mentor junior team members.
- Architecture Mindset: Deep understanding of modern data patterns (Lambda/Kappa, Delta Lake, and Distributed Systems).
