Pay Grade: B08 ($24.95 - $35.96 hourly, depending on experience)

DESCRIPTION
The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) and Senior Companion Program (SCP) provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for adults aged 55+ to support children, older adults, and community agencies. The Project Coordinator leads volunteer recruitment, community outreach, training, and program operations in alignment with AmeriCorps Seniors Project Director and federal grant requirements. The Project Coordinator will spend considerable time in the community strengthening relationships, recruiting volunteers, and supporting volunteer stations.

This position is under the supervision of the AmeriCorps Seniors Project Director.

Foster Grandparent & Senior Companion volunteers serve at various locations throughout the Eastern Oregon AmeriCorps Seniors Program service area: Umatilla, Morrow, Union, Grant, Harney, Malheur, Deschutes, Crook. Jefferson, Baker, and Wasco counties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Engagement & Outreach
· Represent the programs in the community by giving presentations, participating in meetings and conferences, and building local partnerships.
· Conduct outreach to recruit senior volunteers and develop new volunteer station relationships.
· Spend more than 50% of work time in the field, attending events, conducting outreach, and supporting volunteer stations.
Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Support
· Recruit, screen, place, and supervise volunteers to ensure successful assignments.
· Plan and organize volunteer meetings and events, including schedules and agendas.
· Deliver ongoing volunteer training on program objectives, community resources, and advanced learning opportunities.
· Recruit community professionals and subject experts to support training sessions.
· Assist in the coordination, training, and retention of volunteers.
Program Coordination
· Support planning and coordination of program activities.
· Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with federal grant requirements.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with volunteer stations; negotiate, review, and update Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) based on community needs.
· Ensure appropriate use of technology for all program operations.
Communications & Outreach Materials
· Manage program communications including newsletters, social media, press releases, radio ads, and general media relations.
· Help build positive working relationships with internal staff and external partners.
Administrative & Operational Duties
· Track expenditures and manage project budgets responsibly.
· Maintain office supplies, training materials, and related resources.
· Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage confidently with community groups, volunteers, and partner agencies.
- Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
- Strong organizational skills and diligence.
- Ability to work independently and manage a field-based schedule.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for frequent local travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, education, or social services.
- Experience working with older adults or in a nonprofit environment.
- Familiarity with AmeriCorps Seniors programs.
Work Environment
- Office-based with extensive community-based work.
- Regular travel within the region to volunteer stations, events, and partner agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in social services, education, or a related field
OR
Four years progressively responsible experience, or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.
Certifications
No certifications are required.

- Working knowledge of community networking and the ability to build productive relationships with local partners.

- Ability to develop effective training materials that support volunteer learning and program goals.
- Skill in organizing, motivating, and coordinating volunteers across diverse and rural communities.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS
Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 181.536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR 410-007-0200 through 410-007-0380.
Must pass a monthly check against the OIG and GSA exclusion lists, as well as other federal and state agency lists. If employee, volunteer, or contractor is excluded or sanctioned it is grounds for immediate termination of employment, volunteering, or contract.
Must pass AmeriCorps Seniors background check requirements for national service. National Service Criminal History Checks (NSCHC) is a baseline screening requirement established by law to protect the beneficiaries of national service. NSCHC is required under the National and Community Service Act of 1990, as amended by the Serve America Act (SAA). The statutory requirement at 42 U.S.C. § 12645g is supplemented by regulatory requirements at 45 CFR §2540.200 through §2540.207 as well as the terms and conditions of AmeriCorps grants.
PASS PRE-HIRE DRUG SCREENING
PERSONAL AUTO INSURANCE
Must hold a valid driver’s license as well as personal auto insurance for privately owned vehicles utilized for CCS business such as client service purposes, travel between business offices and the community, to attend required meetings and trainings.
Must show proof of $300,000 or more liability coverage for bodily injury and $100,000 or more in property damage and maintain said level of coverage for the duration of employment at CCS.
The employee’s insurance is primary with CCS insurance being secondary. CCS reserves the right to deny any employee the use of a vehicle owned by CCS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the essential duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use office technology, including computers, phones, and related equipment, which involves fine motor skills such as typing, grasping, and reaching.
The employee is frequently required to sit, speak, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate equipment or handle materials. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or squat when adjusting equipment or retrieving supplies.
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in both an office environment and various community settings. Noise levels are moderate; however, the employee may occasionally be exposed to louder environments, such as raised voices, alarms, or unpredictable noise levels in community locations.
This position requires out-of-area travel and occasional overnight stays to attend meetings, training sessions, and recruitment activities. Work in rural areas may involve facilities without full handicapped accessibility and environments that are difficult to predict, including uneven terrain.
The employee may be exposed to everyday risks or discomforts typical of office and community settings. These may include moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, electrical equipment, and other conditions that require normal safety precautions.
