Description


The Grants & Community Partnerships Manager plays a key role in securing and sustaining funding for Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast. This position leads grant writing and institutional funding efforts while serving as a visible representative of the organization in North San Luis Obispo County.


This role combines strong writing and data skills with relationship-building and community presence. The successful candidate will work closely with program, finance, and advancement teams to grow institutional support and strengthen local partnerships.

 

WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE

This position is based in North San Luis Obispo County (Paso Robles, CA) and requires regular in-person engagement with local partners and stakeholders. Hybrid flexibility is available for focused writing and administrative tasks.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


Grants & Institutional Funding

  • Research and identify grant opportunities (foundation, corporate, and public funding)
  • Write and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports
  • Maintain a 12-month rolling grants calendar
  • Track submissions, awards, reporting deadlines, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with finance to ensure budgets align with grant requirements
  • Support renewal strategies and funder stewardship

Community Partnerships (North San Luis Obispo County Focus)

  • Represent BGCMCC at local meetings, convenings, and partner gatherings
  • Build and strengthen relationships with North SLO County funders, local government, community and business leaders
  • Support the development of local funding strategies tied to community priorities
  • Assist in preparing briefings and materials for meetings with external stakeholders
  • Stewardship of community partners, individual donors and sponsors

Data & Impact Storytelling

  • Gather program data and outcomes to support grant applications
  • Translate program impact into clear, compelling narratives
  • Collaborate with program leaders to refine measurable goals and outcomes
  • Ensure accurate reporting in coordination with program and finance teams
  • Utilize donor and data systems (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce and related platforms) to track institutional activity

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the Advancement team to align grant strategy with overall fundraising goals
  • Support event sponsorship proposals as needed
  • Align messaging with organizational marketing and brand standards
  • Participate in internal planning and strategic conversations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • 3-5 years work experience in grant writing and/or institutional fundraising experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include editing
  • Proven effectiveness applying for, securing and reporting on grants portfolio of at least $800,000 annually
  • Experience tracking grants and using online grant application systems
  • Excellent time management skills, and experience managing multiple deadlines and projects
  • Must be proficient in the use of Windows, Internet, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access or other database software proficiency), Zoom or other virtual meeting platforms, Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive), Donor database (Donor Perfect, Salesforce)
  • Willingness and ability to be physically present on a regular basis in North San Luis Obispo County
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across departments
  • Current drivers license and reliable transportation

Recommended

  • Experience in youth development, education or community-based nonprofits
  • Familiarity with public funding and compliance requirements
  • Experience using CRM systems for tracking funding activity
