Manufacturing Training Supervisor

Sunstar Engineering Americas is a global leader in adhesives, sealants, and coatings for the automobile industry.  We are seeking a driven, self-motivated individual to supervise all onboarding and training of new Manufacturing associates to ensure full understanding of safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost and efficiency.  Additionally, the selected candidate will provide on-going related topic review and training to existing Production, Warehouse and Dock employees.         

Requirements

  Supervisory Duties

  •  Maintain safe operating practices and good working conditions in the department.
  • Develop and implement company safety programs and activities, and act as Safety Leader
  • Facilitate Daily EMDS Activity with KPI input, monitoring goals, daily team member review, problem-solving activities, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote Standard Work with Best Practices work environment.
  • Escalate issues involving personnel injury, product rejection, property damage, equipment issues preventing the flow of production, and all downtime events to Assistant Production Manager.
  • Lead, monitor, and audit 5S, and support CANDO program.
  • Coordinate Preventive Action and Continuous Improvement activities in assigned areas.
  • Assign, train, review and check work, assist employees, evaluate performance, and eliminate ordinary operating difficulties.
  • Maintain daily attendance records, review hours worked records and overtime reports for payroll processing.
  • Hold team members accountable to pre-determined performance targets.
  • Conduct performance reviews with all associates within assigned department.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor status of assigned projects within approved budgets, and evaluate progress and report to department manager and other department as required.
  • Recommend hiring and temporary placement of workers to department manager   

Training Duties

  • Facilitate Daily Gemba and Enterprise Management Develop System/SQDCP Board Activity with KPI input, daily team member review, problem-solving activities, and continuous improvement with all newly onboarded associates.
  • Coordinate with Production Supervision to prioritize training plan of new associates, associates in need of re-training, and skills development for career advancement.
  • Own Training Plan, Documentation, and Onboarding processes for Hourly Manufacturing Associates.
  • Work with Leadership to facilitate and OWN “DOJO” style onboarding process. DOJO style process would incorporate offline training giving new hires Safety Training, Policy Reviews, QC methodology, and Hands-on experience in an offline classroom setting. Coordinate new hire training with HR and Manufacturing Manager.
  • Oversee all train the trainer activities for production floor trainers to insure standardization of all on the job training.
  • Develop training program for current associates to cross-train and maintain occupational competency to ensure continual operational flexibility. 
  • Build training for career advancement opportunities with both Production Employees and their Supervisors.
  • Drive and OWN the Train the Trainer program.

Secondary Duties

  • Support Manufacturing and Warehousing Leadership with associate reviews through transparency and standardized documentation.
  • Work with Manufacturing Leadership by using   Documentation in the form of Training Matrices, Skill Maps, and Audit reviews   to recommend and sign-off on hourly Manufacturing associates’ promotions.
  • This position is also required to perform   other related duties as assigned by the department manager or president.

 Skills/Abilities 

  • Must be able to coordinate training for associates over multi-shift operation.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically PPT, Excel, and Word.
  • Must be able to gather and interpret data for the purposes of increasing efficiency.
  • Must be able to prioritize and delegate work to support training in Operations.

 Education & Experience Requirements

  • Prefer, but do not require a bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations or related field with a minimum of 3 years of Supervisory Experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prefer, but do not require experience in Chemical Manufacturing.
  • Must have experience creating Work Instructions, SOP`s, managing Training Matrices, Developing Skill Maps, and process auditing for effectiveness.
  • Must have Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Must be able to attain training certificates as needed.
