JOB SUMMARY:
Smith Entertainment Group (SEG), the parent company of the Utah Jazz, Utah Mammoth, and Delta Center, is seeking a highly motivated Business Development & Partnerships Intern to support the Business Development, Partnerships, and Sales Operations teams in a 6 month internship. This role offers hands-on experience in partnership sales strategy, project coordination, creative development, and event execution within a fast-paced sports and entertainment organization.
This internship provides the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that drive revenue growth, partnership innovation, and premium fan experiences. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, detail-oriented, and eager to learn, with strong communication skills, and a team-first mindset.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management & Operations
- Assist with the daily operations of the Business Development Operations teams.
- Assist with project tracking and organization using internal project management tools such as Asana to ensure timely execution of partnership initiatives.
- Assist in streamlining internal workflows, documentation, and cross-functional communication.
- Help manage timelines, deliverables, and approvals across departments.
- Maintain organization of assets, documents, decks, and project materials.
Creative Development & Pitch Support
- Aid in creative ideation and brainstorming of innovative partnership opportunities and marketing strategies.
- Assist in the development of pitch decks, presentations, creative briefs, and experiential mockups using PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva, and other tools.
- Support asset development and the maintenance of an up-to-date partnership inventory.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Operations teams to develop high-quality client-facing materials.
- Assist in building experiential mockups and pitch environments.
Marketing & Event Support
- Assist with marketing-related initiatives including sales campaigns, events, and promotional activations.
- Support the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of sales events, networking functions, premium experiences, and golf tournaments.
- Assist with on-site event coordination and client hospitality as needed.
Team & Culture

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or recent graduate (business, marketing, communications, sports management, or related field preferred).
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and presentation tools (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva).
- Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by sports and entertainment events.
- Willingness to provide own transportation for event-related responsibilities.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening.
- Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot) and project management tools (Asana, Monday.com) is a plus.
- Basic design or creative skills (Canva, DIGIDeck) preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in an office and event-based environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs for extended periods.
- Ability to assist with event setup, flow, and takedown.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
