At Rock Creek, you won’t just prepare meals, you’ll help deliver memorable dining experiences for our members and guests.


Seasonal Opportunity: Approximately April 26, 2026 - October 15, 2026

Shifts: part-time (no housing available) / full-time (potential housing opportunity*)

Hours: 8-10 hour daily shifts / potentially 40-50 hours a week


*Limited availability housing. Candidates may inquire with the hiring manager. Housing is not guaranteed. Rent is $395/month with a refundable deposit of $150 if approved. At this time, we are not allowing new pets.


  

Job Summary: Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present menu items. Also perform other duties as necessary in the kitchen, including but not limited to preparation “prep” work, proper sanitization and well as closing and side duties. Line Cooks are responsible for effectively completing the responsibilities below while maintaining constant communication with location management regarding progress and setbacks. These duties are all subject to revisions based on operational demands. For the purposes of this job description, any reference to “kitchen,” includes but is not limited to dishwashing area and equipment.



Duties/Responsibilities:


  

  • Prepare and properly store ingredients for menu items, including washing, chopping, dicing, mincing, pureeing, peeling, cutting, mixing, seasoning, and portioning. 
  • Safely and correctly store all food, prep items, and supplies in their designated locations. 
  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present menu items—often managing multiple orders at the same time. 
  • Read and follow order details carefully, ensuring all additions, deletions, and substitutions are incorporated into the preparation process. 
  • Safely operate and handle all kitchen equipment in accordance with company standards. 
  • Review orders for modifications, including removal of allergens. 
  • Communicate allergen-related modifications and other special instructions to all necessary team members. 
  • Follow and practice Company standards for preparing food for Members with allergies, including sanitizing and/or replacing utensils, equipment, and surfaces before production. 
  • Contribute to an exceptional Member experience by consistently aiming to exceed expectations. 
  • Maintain food quality, freshness, and safe food-handling standards at all times. 
  • Support efficient and effective set-up and breakdown of all kitchen stations, including salad, sauté, grill, and fryer. 
  • Follow recipes, portioning, and production standards as outlined by Company protocols. 
  • Complete side work and closing duties efficiently, checking out with Management before clocking out. 
  • Proactively alert employees and Members to potential hazards, such as knives, hot skillets, molten food cores, or changes in flooring (inclines, declines, stairs). 
  • Maintain company cleanliness standards throughout all work areas. 
  • Stay updated on specials, features, and menu changes, including discontinued or depleted items. 
  • Assist with dishwashing, cleaning tasks, and other support duties as needed. 
  • Promptly report Member concerns, injuries, accidents, or other high-risk issues to Management.
  • Promptly report employee and personal (“self”) concerns, injuries, accidents, or other high-risk issues to Management. 
  • Follow Company control procedures to safeguard equipment, inventory, and other assets. 
  • Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and all mandatory staff meetings. 
  • If permitted by law, notify and receive approval from Management prior to taking required or optional breaks. 
  • Accurately record time worked through proper clock-in/clock-out procedures. 
  • Monitor personal payroll hours and notify Management when approaching overtime thresholds. 
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as needed—supporting the team during unexpected or high-demand moments.

Education and Experience:

  •   Previous cooking experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to climb and descend stairs as needed throughout the shift. 
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the kitchen and restaurant. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed. 
  • May be required to work in excessive heat, cold, and humid conditions associated with kitchen operations, outdoor cooking, and special events. 
  • Frequent exposure to hot surfaces, open flames, sharp tools, and other kitchen equipment. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires quick reflexes, coordination, and repetitive motion.

Work Environment:

  

The employee works in a fast-paced, busy kitchen environment with moderate to high noise levels. They may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, such as those created by the industrial dishwasher, as well as excessive heat, cold, or outdoor weather elements. The role also involves periodic exposure to cleaning agents and other chemicals commonly used in the food service industry. The employee frequently works near potentially hazardous kitchen equipment, including but not limited to knives, blade-based machinery, ovens, open flames, hot equipment, and hot oil. Kitchen operations require close coordination with other culinary and service staff, often in shared or compact workspaces. Operational demands may shift quickly, requiring adaptability and effective communication. Employees assigned to work in private residences or off-site locations will be required to pass a background check before performing duties in those areas.
