SMG seeks an HSE Advisor with OCIP experience in Kenosha, Wisconsin.


The HSE Advisor position will provide leadership for all aspects of the site Contractor Health, Safety, and Environmental (CHSEMP) program, including the following:

  • Serve as Loss Control Representative supporting the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP).
  • Provide HSE support to clients and contractors, ensuring compliance and performance.
  • Act as liaison between client and contractors to align on safety expectations.
  • Conduct contractor prequalification, onboarding, and HSE orientation.
  • Participate in HSE planning, pre-bid, pre-award, and weekly contractor meetings.
  • Perform independent incident investigations on behalf of the client.
  • Conduct field HSE observations and document findings using Predictive Solutions or similar systems.
  • Collect, analyze, and report contractor safety metrics and evaluate HSE trends.
  • Review and support pre-job hazard analyses (JHAs/JSA) and emergency action plans.
  • Perform audits, including substance abuse, process verification, compliance, and training verification.
  • Provide interpretation of OSHA, IOSHA, and applicable safety standards.
  • Review contractor safety programs to ensure compliance and continuous improvement; recommend best practices.
Requirements
  • A degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field.
  • 5 to 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience with Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP).
  • Ability to interpret and apply in practice, construction, and environmental information from all codes, standards, regulations, Federal and State laws, and applicable regulatory documents.
  • Experience and a general understanding of industrial hygiene applications and process contractor HSE Advisor management requirements.
  • Capable of providing contractor HSE Advisor support to various trades/services, including (but not limited to) facility maintenance, laboratories, housekeeping, and project construction.
  • Have thorough knowledge of lead/asbestos regulations and hazardous waste handling.
  • Prior experience/knowledge of risk management, statistical methods, and behavior-based contractor HSE Advisor concepts.
  • Prior experience in program development and technical writing.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with statistical control methods.
