Description

About the Role:  Under the supervision of the Park Board (or assigned Supervisor), this position is responsible for performing a variety of routine manual and semi-skilled tasks to maintain the cleanliness, safety, appearance, and functionality of Burleigh County public parks, fairgrounds, and associate facilities and docks. This role also monitors the parks and communicates with park visitors and campers regarding safety, park use, hours of operation and rules. 

This is a temporary/seasonal position that will run from May through October

  1. Inspect parking lots and docks and report any needed maintenance to the Park Board and portfolio holder.
  2. Perform regular maintenance and repairs to all buildings, picnic areas, fish cleaning stations, and other facilities located in the parks.
  3. Inspect all dock heights weekly and make request for raising or lowering as needed.
  4. Pick-up litter and restock toilets.
  5. Ensure safety of all park visitors and campers by monitoring visitor/camper activities.
  6. Serves as primary contact for the public regarding park operations, hours, and other information.
  7. Direct and monitor contractors and contracted services for quality regarding mowing and trimming, stocking of supplies and litter/garbage removal.
  8. Report any major maintenance required to facilities to the Park Board and portfolio holder or assigned Supervisor.
  9. Perform routine landscaping, tree trimming, and other forestry services.
  10. Perform general cleaning and clearing of grounds, removing tree limbs and other items as needed.
  11. Inspect and repair picnic tables, benches, and playground equipment.
  12. Perform safety inspections of all park and playground equipment.
  13. Operate hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, brooms, and other hand tools in a safe manner.
  14. Operate machinery/vehicles such as skid steers, tractors, and mowers in a safe manner.
  15. Clean and maintain vault toilets.
  16. Assist Park Board and portfolio holder with obtaining contracted services as needed.
  17. Other duties as required and assigned.
Requirements

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age, high school diploma or GED certified.
  • One (1) year of experience in general building maintenance, landscaping, or related manual labor.
  • Valid North Dakota driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Applicant will be subject to a post-offer civil and criminal background check. The cost of these exams will be paid for by the County.
Salary Description
$19.27 to $21.38 per hour
