Purpose and Scope:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator & ETL Developer to design, maintain, and optimize our data infrastructure. In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for the reliability, performance, and security of our databases while also developing and managing robust ETL pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and operational workflows.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys both database engineering and hands-on data integration work.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and optimize SQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
- Handle database installation, configuration, upgrades, migration, and maintenance.
- Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, and failover strategies.
- Ensure database performance tuning, indexing strategy, and query optimization.
- Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and data access security.
- Ensure database compliance with internal and external security standards.
- Troubleshoot database issues, performance bottlenecks, and service outages.
- Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines using tools such as SSIS, Informatica, Talend, Airflow, or custom Python/SQL.
- Develop data models, data flows, integration mappings, and workflow schedules.
- Collaborate with analytics, engineering, and business teams to understand data requirements.
- Ensure high-quality data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and validation processes.
- Support data warehousing initiatives and optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability.
- Monitor ETL jobs, resolve failures, and ensure timely data delivery.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on data quality and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications:
- All candidates must pass public trust clearance through the U.S. Federal Government. This requires candidates to either be U.S. citizens or pass clearance through the Foreign National Government System which will require that candidates have lived within the United States for at least 3 out of the previous 5 years, have a valid and non-expired passport from their country of birth and appropriate VISA/work permit documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in DBA / ETL development
- Strong SQL expertise including query tuning and stored procedure development.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major relational database system.
- Experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines in enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions, fact tables).
- Experience with automation using shell scripts, PowerShell, Python, or similar tools.
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure SQL, AWS RDS/Redshift, GCP BigQuery)
Working Environment:
eSimplicity supports a hybrid work environment operating within the Eastern time zone so we can work with and respond to our government clients. Expected hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern unless otherwise directed by manager.
Occasional travel for training and project meetings. It is estimated to be less than 5% per year.
