Description
The Purchasing Assistant works with the Purchasing Team in a fast-paced and challenging environment to create and confirm purchase orders.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain correct information in ERP system by referring to engineer drawings.
- Accurately processes purchase orders in a timely and effective manner based on need-by dates and order quantities provided by ERP system and Production Manager.
- Assists in sourcing parts.
- Confirm and follow up on orders, shipment deliveries, and receipt of purchased goods.
- Expedite rush orders.
- Investigates late shipments, quality issues, and order discrepancies with suppliers; escalates issues within the purchasing team.
- Perform clerical functions (answer telephones, file purchase orders, etc).
- Demonstrate continued improvement to eliminate errors; bring up recurring issues with potential solutions to direct supervisor.
- Exhibit a positive and professional attitude with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Will work with purchasing, production, engineering, and receiving.
- Performs additional duties and projects as requested by management.
Requirements
Applicant must be: proficient with Microsoft Office suite, detail oriented, able to perform calculations with calculator & Excel formulas, and have professional verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems & electronic components is a plus.
Minimum Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 2 years’ applicable experience.
Must reside in Tri-Cities, TN area.
