Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. What will you do as the Foster Care Director?

  • Ensure budgeted Foster Parent growth targets are met or exceeded. 
  • Lead efforts related to marketing/recruitment in close conjunction with Thompson support departments.
  • Provide vision, strategy and actions towards Thompson’s foster parent growth.
  • Seek out new business opportunities that could lead to increase Foster Care presence.
  • Proactive coaching and feedback to ensure professional development and growth of direct reports. 
  • Setting programmatic objectives, defining roles, and prioritizing tasks for direct reports. 
  • Effective proactive communication in all directions (up, down, sideways) to ensure program needs are met. 
  • Recruit, interview and selection of top tier talent for their program staff.
  • Conduct thorough and well-documented assessments of direct reports’ performance.
  • Proactively address performance issues and replace team members who consistently fall short of delivering on their  objectives. 
  • Create an open and trusting environment where teamwork and collaboration is valued. 
  • Compliance with the agency Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process to ensure program data and outcome goals are met.
  • Ensure internal and external standards are met regarding records, documentation and general services provided.
  • Coordinate and liaison with internal and external stakeholders to represent the program and its needs. 
  • Act as a role model across the organization for other staff regarding professionalism, positivity and teamwork.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the program(s) they lead. 
  • Bachelor’s degree is required. 
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Verified 2 years of work experience as a high performing individual contributor in a related field. 
  • Exposure to leadership/management experiences either through short term project management, coordination, training or actual leadership positions.
  • Displays the capacity/coachability for future growth and development as a leader.
  • Must reside close to the Greenville, SC or Columbia, SC area to be considered for this role
