About the Role

The Credit Analyst Intern will gain hands-on experience in commercial banking and credit underwriting within a community bank environment. Under the supervision of experienced credit professionals, the intern will assist in analyzing financial statements, evaluating credit risk, and supporting the preparation of loan presentations for commercial and consumer lending relationships.


Essential Responsibilities 

  • Lead with and model SSB&T’s core values,      embedding them into data strategy, governance, and team culture.

· Assist in spreading and analyzing personal and commercial financial statements

· Perform basic financial ratio analysis and trend analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential risk factors under supervision. 

· Research industry trends, local market conditions, and economic factors that may impact borrower performance, particularly within the bank’s community footprint.

· Participate in internal meetings, attend assigned training, in person and online to gain knowledge of the full credit lifecycle.

· Maintain confidentiality of customer financial information and adhere to all bank policies and regulatory guidelines.

· Assist loan and credit operations departments as necessary. 


Employment Commitments & Physical Requirements

· Non-Exempt

· Full-time 

· Monday- Friday 8am-5pm 

· Focus-intensive position requiring extended periods of sitting and digital navigation.

· Occasional walking, standing, and use of office equipment.

· Must possess close visual acuity and clear speech for verbal communication. 


Location & Travel

· Physical reporting Operations 2 office location

· Travel may be necessary depending on business needs

· Willingness to relocate to Fredericksburg for 10 weeks during summer internship

Requirements

   

Candidate Requirements 

· Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; Junior standing preferred with minimum 3.0 GPA

· Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

· Ability to interpret commercial and consumer financial statements and tax returns preferred

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data analysis), Word, and PowerPoint

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
