As the Corporate Controller, you have the opportunity to play a strategic leadership role in shaping Mission Rock Residential’s financial integrity and operational excellence. You’ll partner closely with the Chief Financial Officer and executive leadership to lead corporate accounting operations, oversee compliance and reporting, and ensure the financial health of our multifamily portfolio.

 The expected compensation range for this position is $150,000- $160,000 annually, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. 

Requirements

The day-to-day: 

Our Corporate Controller at Mission Rock are strategic, detail-oriented leaders who bring financial discipline and forward-thinking insight to the organization. You may work with any of the following:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Corporate Accounting, Treasury, and outsourced accounting teams
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and succession planning for direct reports
  • Maintain and oversee corporate books, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting 
  • Review and approve journal entries, general ledger activity, and reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements with analysis and forward-looking commentary
  • Oversee cash management, banking activity, and approval of transfers
  • Review invoice coding, approve corporate invoices, and ensure alignment with budgets
  • Oversee vendor compliance in partnership with Compliance and Operations teams
  • Ensure payroll and benefits accounting accuracy and resolution of discrepancies
  • Support annual budget preparation in collaboration with senior accounting leadership
  • Partner with Corporate Compliance on audits, internal controls, and risk analysis
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain current business licenses and ensure tax filings are completed timely
  • Identify operational efficiencies and implement process improvements

What you bring:

  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within multifamily real estate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting controls
  • Experience with Yardi accounting software highly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability
  • Strong technical accounting expertise
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and inspire teams
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to work across all levels of the organization
  • High level of integrity and professional confidentiality
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

 

This is an exempt, full-time position with up to 25% travel.
