JOB SUMMARY:

The Director, Business Development is a senior sales leader responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding strategic client partnerships, and strengthening IMS’s market position within the legal and professional services landscape.

This role combines consultative sales leadership, executive-level relationship development, and cross-functional collaboration. The Director leads and develops a high-performing sales team, aligns business development strategy with firm priorities, and partners closely with service delivery and marketing leaders to ensure sustained growth and exceptional client outcomes.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 


Revenue Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead execution of IMS' growth strategy by achieving individual and team revenue targets
  • Develop and implement annual sales plans aligned with corporate objectives
  • Drive disciplined pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and performance accountability
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators to ensure attainment of revenue and growth goals
  • Contribute to departmental budgeting and maintain accountability for financial performance

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing sales team
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching, quarterly business reviews, and monthly performance assessments
  • Elevate consultative selling capability through ongoing training and skills development
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Client & Market Engagement

  • Maintain an active in-market presence (approximately 50% travel, including conferences and client meetings)
  • Build and deepen executive-level relationships with attorneys, law firms, and corporate clients
  • Identify and convert strategic growth opportunities through tailored professional services engagements
  • Ensure alignment between client expectations and service delivery execution

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with service delivery, consulting, recruiting, and marketing leaders to advance revenue-generating initiatives
  • Align messaging, positioning, and go-to-market strategies across the organization
  • Serve as an active member of the leadership team, contributing to enterprise-wide strategy and cohesion
  • Champion IMS’s Core Values and cultivate a high-performance, relationship-driven culture

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in business development or sales leadership within a professional services environment (e.g., consulting, legal, advisory, litigation support, or IT services)
  • Demonstrated success leading and scaling client development teams
  • Consistent record of achieving or exceeding revenue and growth targets
  • Experience managing complex, consultative sales cycles involving senior stakeholders
  • Litigation support or legal industry experience preferred
  • Executive-level relationship development and consultative selling expertise
  • Strong commercial acumen, including pricing strategy and value articulation
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insight into growth initiatives
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable operating in matrixed organizations and collaborating cross-functionally

EDUCATION & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced degree (MBA or related field) preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales analytics tools, with ability to recognize trends and patterns and course correct as necessary
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Software Suite including application of Co-Pilot

LOCATION:

  • This position is 100% remote and supports east to west coast time zones
