Position Summary:
The Marketing and Communications Specialist advances the Marjaree Mason Center’s visibility, engagement, and impact by leading integrated marketing, communications, and digital media efforts. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy and Communication, this role is responsible for developing and managing strategic campaigns, creating compelling content across print and digital platforms, and ensuring consistent, mission-driven messaging that strengthens connections with donors, clients, and the broader community. Key responsibilities include overseeing social media strategies, website management, media relations, design and production of marketing collateral, and support for fundraising campaigns and events. Serving as the organization’s brand steward, the Specialist ensures the organization’s voice is clear, engaging, and aligned to enhance brand marketing to further the organization’s mission and values. This position will uphold a culture of integrity, empowerment, dedication, and collaboration in alignment with MMC’s mission and strategic objectives.
Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities include the following:
· Develop, manage, and maintain an annual marketing and communications calendar that supports organizational priorities, ensures timely execution of campaigns, and creates alignment across all communication channels.
· Collaborate with the leadership team to establish agency-wide and program-specific marketing and community engagement goals.
· Lead the development of agency-wide and program-specific marketing collateral (e.g., flyers, brochures, donor recognition pieces, funding proposals, business cards, holiday cards), including coordinating inventory, printing, and vendor management.
· Write, edit, and proofread all external-facing copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with brand voice. Serve as the brand steward, maintaining consistency across all communications.
· Develop, implement, and manage social media strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement, including creating and scheduling compelling, platform-specific content (graphics, video, and written posts) at least one month in advance.
· Attend MMC events and outreach activities to capture photos and video for real-time posting, including some evening and weekend events.
· Engage with social media followers by responding to comments and messages in a timely manner and work to manage the MMC brand and reputation on third-party social media pages.
· Maintain and update the website, including design edits, copywriting, and timely posting of updates and events.
· Post MMC events to local community calendars.
· Act as the main point of contact with the organization’s marketing agency for all creative projects.
· Write and design all fundraising appeal letters, and annual donor impact report, including mission-driven, engaging content that inspires generosity. Work with print vendors to collect quotes and manage printing production and timelines.
· Write and distribute monthly employee newsletter and monthly donor newsletter.
· Oversee ordering, production, and inventory of promotional items, branded materials, and collateral
· Manage all sponsorship and grant compliance requirements as it pertains to the public promotion or recognition. Provide reports to supervisor as required.
· Strategically develop, nurture, and expand relationships with local media outlets, formulate and prepare press releases and other materials to the media to provide newsworthy stories that will tell the MMC story to the broader community including fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives, to expand the organization’s reach.
· Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert for all fundraising events and fundraising programs, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of ways to give to the organization.
· Act as the spokesperson to the community as needed, delivering community presentations, and conducting media interviews.
· Partner with all other departments and programs to ensure coordination of resources for clients as well as the ability to provide program support for other departments as needed.
· Works collaboratively with colleagues throughout the organization in order to model and support effective cross-departmental partnerships, trauma-informed practices, resiliency-building, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
· Adheres to all organizations' and programs' policies and procedures.
· Communicates regularly and provides written program updates to the manager about program activities, outcomes, and community engagement.
· Attend department and agency-wide meetings as required.
· Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field from a four-year college or university, preferred.
· A Minimum of 3-5years of experience with writing compelling copy, graphic design, social/digital media marketing, special events and public relations.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and Tests:
· Possession of a valid California driver's license and proof of liability insurance on personal auto.
· Must be insurable at all times at standard rate by MMC insurance carrier.
· Must successfully pass a drug, background and Tuberculosis test.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Interest in and commitment to the mission and vision of MMC with a sensitivity to domestic violence.

· An understanding of data analysis and performance metrics.?
· Ability to prepare timely, proper, clear, and concise comprehensive reports, summaries, presentations, correspondence, and other documentation.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely both verbally and in writing in English. Bilingual in Hmong, Spanish, or Punjabi is a plus.
· Ability to receive and utilize constructive feedback regarding performance, presentation and relationships with others.
· Understanding of fundraising-driven marketing strategies to assist development goals.
· Advance skills in graphic design and experience using software such Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
· Experience using a mass email platform like MailChimp or Constant Contact.
· In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, TikTok, etc.); Advertising experience a plus.
· Strong analytical skills and an understanding of digital marketing campaign methodologies and principles.
