Job Summary
The Senior Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the production schedule for an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) environment. This role will work closely with Master Scheduler and Project Managers to ensure that customer orders, engineering releases, material availability, and manufacturing capacities are synchronized to meet delivery commitments, optimize resources, and support business objectives.
The Senior Production Scheduler acts as the key liaison between Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, and Project Management to translate complex project requirements into executable shop floor schedules.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Translate the SIOP-driven master schedule into a feasible 2-3 month production schedule aligned with plant capacity & ramp ups, customer orders, engineering designs, and lead times.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Production, Quality, and Project Management to ensure alignment between design releases, material availability, and manufacturing execution.
- Act as primary liaison between Site Master Scheduler and shop floor execution.
- Monitor shop floor progress & schedule adherence; proactively identify bottlenecks, material availability, & capacity constraints
- Recommend / Propose plans & actions to mitigate at-risk delivery commitments.
- Manage the impact of engineering changes (ECOs), customer revisions, and supply disruptions to the master production schedule; communicate and coordinate updates with Master Scheduler & other appropriate stakeholders.
- Lead daily/weekly scheduling review with production supervisors, engineers, and planning team.
- Mentor and support production planners as the team grows.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience in production planning or scheduling, preferably in an Engineer-to-Order or Project-based Manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems, BOM structures, routings, and capacity planning.
- Experience coordinating across engineering, procurement, and manufacturing functions.
- Strong analytical, Strong organizational skills: ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions
Additional Skills and Experience
- Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Experience in Epicor an advantage).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to handle multiple complex projects and shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project).
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is a plus
