Position Summary
We are seeking a Testing Technician to join our Global Testing Team with a focus on continually improving our released products and identifying opportunities to improve future products. This role will provide engineering support to ensure the highest level of technical service to internal and external customers. This role reports directly to the Director of Sustaining Engineering.
The ideal candidate is optimistic, energetic, and an excellent communicator who can thrive when working as part of a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team! The ideal candidate has a background in electrical engineering and experience with forensic investigation and analysis of complex field issues.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct forensic investigation and analysis in electronic circuits and equipment.
- Work closely with engineers conducting forensic analysis and root cause investigations.
- Perform changes and modifications to electronic systems to address issues.
- Collaborate with engineers in refining and optimizing electronic designs based on prototype performance.
- Construct and assemble electronic circuits and systems based on engineering designs and specifications.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of electronic systems, including schematics, assembly procedures, and testing protocol.
- Maintain and support the development of Troubleshooting Guides
- Participate in team meetings to provide insights into the feasibility and practicality of electronic designs.
- Set up, Operating, Maintaining High Current Test Systems
Required Skills and Experience
- Associate degree or certification in electronics, electrical engineering technology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Proven experience as an electronic engineering technician or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of electronic circuits, components, and systems.
- Proficiency in using electronic testing equipment and tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Ability to work with various internal and external technical stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to details
- Strong organization and documentation abilities.
- Self-motivated and willing to take initiative.
- Familiarity with PPE and Safety in the Workplace
- The role involves hands-on work in a lab and manufacturing environment, including moving and positioning equipment and materials weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to use hand and power tools
Desired Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with working with High Voltage test equipment and set ups
- Knowledge of programming languages relevant to electronic systems.
- Familiarity with CAD software for electronic design.
- Six Sigma experience
- Experience in working with offshore teams.
Location
This is an onsite position based at our headquarters in Durham, North Carolina.
Travel Requirements
Minimum travel to domestically and internationally.
