The Saint Matthew Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and thorough mathematics instruction to students in grades 6–8. The teacher will create a supportive learning environment that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a strong mathematical foundation aligned with Saint Matthew Catholic School and Tennessee State standards.


Planning and Instructions:

• Plan and prepare daily lessons and materials in alignment with Saint Matthew School curriculum and TN State Standards.

• Responsible for the overall instruction, operation, management, and supervision of the classroom.

• Demonstrates a variety of methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments, providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.

• Administers and develops subject specific assessments to evaluate student competency levels and/or develops individual learning plans to improve student's academic success in all courses of study.

• Assesses student progress in relation to learning targets, objectives, and expectations; and monitors students in a variety of education environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment.

• Instructs and counsels students to enhance and improve academic performance, appropriate behavior, problem solving skills and techniques, health, and a variety of personal issues.

• Utilize school-wide tracking and tech systems to collect, enter and analyze students’ academic and behavioral data daily.

• Ensure both academic and behavioral gradebooks are maintained with accurate information, in accordance with school-wide deadlines and policy.

• Work effectively with students of varying abilities and learning styles.

• Collaborate with students, colleagues and other members of the school community.


School-Based Duties and Faculty Engagement

• Enforce, uphold and exhibit school’s values, student management policies and culture systems. 

• Participate in school events that occur outside of normal school hours, such as parent-teacher conferences, field trips, SSP meetings and open-house.

• Engage in ongoing Professional Development.

• Attend weekly faculty/staff meetings after school on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Requirements

• Must have an active Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in Middle School 6-8 Math or enrolled in an approved job-embedded educator preparation program. 

• Must have authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.
