Join Us as a Junior Accountant!
We’re seeking a community-oriented and mission-driven Junior Accountant to support general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close processes This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site role expected to work 40 hours per week Monday-Friday. Responsibilities Include
General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
- Maintain trial balance accuracy.
- Research and resolve account discrepancies.
Cash & Revenue Reconciliation
- Assist with daily and monthly cash reconciliations.
- Support revenue tracking and billing processes.
- Review reconciliation documentation.
- Investigate and document transaction variances.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Support
- Provide backup support for accounts payable
- Assist with invoice tracking and vendor communication.
- Support accounts receivable tracking and billing processes.
Reporting & Budget Support
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements.
- Support budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Compile financial data for internal reporting.
- Prepare account analyses as requested.
Audit & Compliance
- Assist in gathering documentation for annual financial and 401(k) audits.
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
- Support compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
General
- Participate in Finance department meetings.
- Communicate professionally with staff and management.
- Support process improvements.
- Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- A commitment to the mission and goals of Weavers Way Co-op.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred; Associates degree in accounting or equivalent practical accounting experience may substitute for formal education.
- 0 to 2 years of accounting experience, including internships.
- Foundational understanding of general ledger accounting and GAAP principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data organization.
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems preferred; Sage 100 is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and multiple priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Ability to remain seated for up to 8 hours, and lift up to 20lbs.
