The mission of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (Los Angeles Tourism) is to improve the quality of life for all Angelenos through the economic and community benefits of tourism. As one of the world’s premier sports capitals, Los Angeles is excited to host eight FIFA World Cup 26™ matches – including the U.S. Men’s National Team opening match – and welcome back the Super Bowl for the ninth time. THE OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Manager, Social Media & Content Production creates and manages daily content that showcases the energy, culture, and neighborhoods of Los Angeles across our global channels. This role is hands-on, writing, shooting, editing, and publishing content while staying tapped into what’s happening around the city. You will help maintain the social calendar, partner with agencies and creators, and bring fresh ideas that align with our programs and brand voice. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, culturally aware, and comfortable balancing fieldwork with day-to-day posting and community engagement. You’ll play a key role in growing our audience, keeping our content timely and relevant, and bringing the unique voice of LA to life.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own day-to-day management of LA Tourism’s global social media platforms (6M + followers), including in-market content capture, editing (photo/video), posting, and community management. (20%)
- Co-develop program-level social strategies with the Creative Director and execute content creation hands-on using a stable of freelancers and influencers year-round (examples: Dine LA, Event Marketing, LA Pride, Mega Sports Events, etc.). Source, recruit, negotiate and draft scope of work for contracts with each individual influencer and freelancer for marketing programs. (20%)
- Produce and publish original content for all social channels, actively identifying real-time opportunities and driving traffic to the website to meet program and annual goals. (20%)
- Maintain a bi-weekly social media editorial calendar for all platforms; ensure cultural and current events sensitivity; manage community engagement daily. (15%)
- Partners with advertising agencies to align paid/organic content, optimize performance globally, and traffic assets as needed. (10%)
- Support broader brand campaign strategies with Creative Director by translating ideas into social-ready content and publishing plans; offering suggestions on how to make the content work well on each platform. (5%)
- Executes partner and ad sales deliverables as well as giveaways. Provides key performance metrics and insights for stakeholders as needed. (5%)
- Perform other duties as assigned. (5%)
SOME OTHER THINGS YOU MAY DO
- Attend events across Los Angeles (evenings/weekends as needed) to capture content for social media and web content campaigns, with a focus on Tourism Marketing District (TMD) hotels and more.
- Collaborate with Creative Director to integrate stakeholder efforts in the overall social media editorial calendars; Balance inbound requests and prioritize against brand/program goals.
- Collaborate with Media department to ensure all key tourism board messages are incorporated into social media outreach and crisis communication appropriately.
- Manage online relationships with regional, state and national organizations, including but not limited to the tourism industry.
- Monitor and analyze social conversation about Los Angeles using tools such as Meta and Brandwatch. Report insights and recommend next steps.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- 4-5 years of hands-on social media/content experience for lifestyle, entertainment, sports, or consumer brands.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and be able to drive a vehicle for work-related travel as needed and as applicable to the position.
- Must be willing to partake in a comprehensive background check including a drug test in accordance with applicable laws.
- Has a proficient knowledge of the Los Angeles community, neighborhoods and events.
- Creative writing and photo editing skills, as well as an ability to communicate to multiple audiences in a variety of platforms.
- Strong knowledge of online trends and tactics, influencer communities, usability standards, familiarity with branding and latest digital technologies, tools and best practices.
- Comfortable working in the field (evenings/weekends as needed).
- Familiarity with social analytics and ability to translate performance into optimization.
- Experience collaborating with creative, media, and agency partners; low ego, team-first working style.
- Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Dependable, great attitude, highly motivated and a team player.
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively across various departments.
- Ability to work in a changing environment.

COMPENSATION RANGE
Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
$80,000 - $103,000
