The Why Behind Wellvana:
The healthcare system isn’t designed for health. We’re designed to change that. We’re Wellvana, and we help doctors deliver life-changing healthcare.
Through our elevated value-based care programs, we’re revitalizing an antiquated system that’s far too long relied on misaligned incentives that reward quantity of care not the quality of it.
Our enlightened approach—covering everything from care coordination to clinical documentation education to marketing— ties the healthy outcomes of patients directly to shared savings for primary care providers, health systems and payors.
Providers in our curated network keep their independence, reduce their administrative headaches, and spend more time with patients. Patients, in turn, get an elevated experience with coordinated care between appointments that is nothing short of life-changing.
Named a 2024 "Best in Business" and 2023 "Best Place to Work" by Nashville Business Journal, we’re one of the fastest-growing healthcare companies in America because what we do works. This is the way medicine is meant to be.
Clarity on the Role:
This role reports directly to the Chief Strategy Officer & ACO General Manager. It is the financial intelligence layer for Wellvana’s ACO Performance & Strategy team. The Senior Manager, Strategic Finance is responsible for identifying and sizing savings opportunities across Wellvana’s partner portfolio, building the financial cases that drive intervention decisions, evaluating vendor and partnership economics, and establishing the performance tracking and alerting frameworks that keep the organization focused on the highest-impact areas.
This is not a reporting or FP&A role. It is a strategic finance position that consumes self-service and custom analytics produced by the Analytics and Medical Economics teams, and translates those outputs into savings estimates, intervention plans and ROI models, vendor pricing analyses, and portfolio-level financial strategy. This person defines the requirements for what gets tracked and how, designs alerting frameworks, and shapes performance reporting. The role demands heavy use of AI to automate repetitive work, with a focus on producing insights, strategies, and recommendations that directly inform how Wellvana deploys resources across its network.
Why This Role Matters:
Wellvana owns and operates ACOs across a growing partner network. The financial performance of those ACOs depends on identifying where savings opportunities exist, quantifying their value, building defensible cases for intervention, and tracking whether deployed resources are delivering returns.
This role is the connective tissue between data and action. You will serve as the financial backbone of the ACO Performance & Strategy team, ensuring that every intervention recommendation is grounded in rigorous financial analysis and that the organization maintains clear visibility into portfolio-level risk and opportunity.
What's Expected:
- Portfolio savings opportunity identification and sizing. Consume analytics and Medical Economics outputs to identify, quantify, and prioritize savings opportunities across the full partner network. Build the analytical framework that answers: where are the savings, how big is the opportunity, and what is the confidence level? This is the first priority and becomes the ongoing foundation for how the ACO Performance & Strategy team allocates resources.
- Intervention ROI and business cases. Build the financial models and business cases that the team needs to secure executive approval and partner buy-in for interventions. Shared savings projections, cost-to-deploy analyses, and expected return timelines. Your work is the analytical ammunition that converts “we should do this” into “here is why, here is the math, and here is the expected payback.”
- Vendor and partnership pricing and modeling. Evaluate the economics of external vendor partnerships, vended solutions, and service agreements. Build scenario models that stress-test pricing structures, identify structural risks in proposed deals, and ensure Wellvana is getting appropriate value relative to the savings those partnerships are expected to generate.
- Performance tracking, alerting, and reporting design. Define the requirements for performance dashboards, alerting thresholds, and reporting cadences in partnership with the Analytics and Med Econ teams. You define what needs to be tracked, what thresholds trigger action, and how performance data flows into the operating cadence. The Analytics and Medical Economics teams produce the outputs; you shape the specifications and consume the results.
- AI-powered automation and efficiency. Leverage AI tools aggressively to automate analytics, insights, presentations, and workflows, accelerate scenario modeling, and scale the team’s capacity. The expectation is that you use every available tool to maximize the volume and quality of insights, strategies, and recommendations.
What’s Required:
- Integrity: The right way is the only way.
- Dependability: You do what you say you’re going to do.
- Advocacy: You fight for the best possible outcome for providers and their patients.
- Clarity: You make it all understandable.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field required.
Years of Related Experience:?
- 5-7+ years of experience in investment banking, strategic finance, management consulting, or a related analytical role. Healthcare services experience preferred.
Skills/Competencies/Behaviors:?
- Exceptional financial modeling skills. You can build operating models, sensitivity analyses, scenario frameworks, and ROI calculations from scratch. Investment banking or transaction advisory experience is ideal preparation.
- Strategic consumer of data and analytics. You don’t write SQL or build dashboards, but you know how to define what needs to be measured, set meaningful thresholds, and translate analytical outputs into actionable financial strategy.
- Strong business case and communication skills. You can take a complex financial analysis and distill it into a clear recommendation that earns executive approval and partner buy-in. Your work product is presentation-ready.
- Builder mentality. No one is handing you a mature function. You are constructing the strategic finance capability for this team from the ground up, defining the frameworks, building the models, and establishing the cadences.
- Heavy AI user. You actively leverage AI tools to automate insights, accelerate analysis, and multiply the team’s output. You view AI as a core part of how you operate, not an occasional supplement.
- Comfort operating across varied partner contexts and cross functionally. Wellvana’s network includes partners at different stages of value-based care maturity with different considerations. Your financial analysis and recommendations must reflect that variation.
- Strong executive communication skills. You will surface financial insights, savings estimates, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership regularly.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling tools. Experience with healthcare data, claims analytics, or medical economics is a plus but not required.
- Relentless follow-through. You track analyses to conclusion. When you identify an opportunity, you see it through to a recommendation with clear numbers and a clear ask.
- Healthcare or value-based care experience preferred but not required. What matters more is analytical intensity, the ability to learn complex domains quickly, and a bias toward producing actionable recommendations over perfecting the model.
