Job Summary:
The Early Learning Lead Teacher at Northwest Christian Schools (NWCS) provides Christ-centered, developmentally appropriate instruction for preschool students. This role emphasizes early childhood development, including language development, early literacy exposure, social-emotional learning, and foundational school readiness skills while fostering academic growth, spiritual formation, and Christlike character.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate preschool instruction in a literacy-rich classroom environment.
- Support early childhood development through play-based and structured learning experiences.
- Teach foundational early learning skills including language development, early literacy exposure, numeracy, and social-emotional growth.
- Create a safe, nurturing classroom environment that supports young learners.
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate, standards-aligned instruction using school-approved curriculum.
- Implement research-based instructional practices and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Assess student learning and adjust instruction to support growth and mastery.
- Integrate biblical truth and worldview into all subject areas and classroom life.
- Create a nurturing, structured classroom environment that supports academic, social, and spiritual development.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Participate in faculty meetings, devotions, professional development, and required school events.
- Comply with school policies and fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Compensation, Benefits & Schedule:
- Compensation: $18.00-$20.00 depending on experience and education.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, typical hours between 7:45am through 4:15pm
- Benefits: Eligible for benefits, including medical, dental and vision. Also eligible for tuition discount.
- Time Off: Personal time off and 10 paid holidays. School closures (e.g., Christmas Break, Spring Break) are generally unpaid unless requested by supervisor to complete specific projects/tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
General
- High School GED or Diploma (Required).
- AA or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Learning or equivalent (Preferred).
- Commitment to modeling Christ-like character and an active member of a local bible believing Church.
- Similar or equivalent role in childcare (Preschool or Early Learning).
- Meet the Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) requirements.
Physical
- Standing multiple hours per day.
- Walking students to and from the playground, lunchroom and activities.
- Ability to kneel and sit on floor for extended period of time to play or talk with children at eye-level.
- Ability to move quickly, run, etc. over smooth to uneven surfaces such as on asphalt, pea gravel, on the playground, or on the grass during playground duty.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
